Yassir Zabiri is not wasting any time in Spain.
The Moroccan striker has officially been named LaLiga’s Under 23 Player of the Month for September, after an impressive start to the season with Racing Santander.
And the numbers explain why.
Zabiri scored three goals during September, bringing his total to six goals in the opening stages of the 2026/27 LaLiga season.
One of his biggest performances came against Alavés, when he scored twice to help Racing turn the match around and win 2 to 1.
Then came Barcelona.
Racing had a very rough night against the league leaders, losing 7 to 2, but Zabiri still managed to score and provide an assist.
Basically, even when everything around him was going wrong, he was still finding a way onto the scoresheet.
The award becomes even more impressive when you look at who he was up against.
Zabiri beat a shortlist that included Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsí, Villarreal’s Alberto Moleiro, Sevilla’s Miguel Sierra and Celta’s Yoel Lago.
And this is his first season with Racing.
The Moroccan forward arrived in Santander this summer and has quickly gone from new signing to one of the biggest young stories of the opening weeks of LaLiga.
For Moroccan football fans, that makes him another name worth keeping very close on the radar.
Because six goals this early into the season is not a quiet introduction.
Yassir Zabiri arrived in LaLiga and apparently skipped the adjustment period.
