Wydad’s coach has said goodbye. Now who’s taking over?

Things are moving quickly at Wydad Casablanca, and this time the biggest change might be happening on the sidelines rather than on the pitch.

Portuguese coach Paulo Sérgio reportedly said goodbye to his players on Tuesday, October 20, following a training session at the Mohamed Benjelloun complex.

According to Moroccan sports media, the coach gathered his squad in the dressing room, thanked them for their time together and wished them success in their upcoming matches.

Not exactly the kind of speech fans expect in the middle of a season.

His reported farewell comes at a difficult moment for the Red and Whites, who have struggled to find consistency in the Moroccan championship.

At the time of the report, Wydad had collected five points and were sitting ninth in the league standings.

For a club with Wydad’s history, expectations and passionate supporters, those results have naturally raised questions about what needs to change.

So, who’s next?

One name is already circulating: Nasreddine Nabi.

The Tunisian coach has reportedly reached a preliminary understanding with Wydad’s management, although further negotiations are required before a deal can be considered final.

An official appointment had not been confirmed in the reporting.

For Wydad supporters, the bigger question isn’t simply who will occupy the coaching position.

It’s whether a new manager can bring the stability and results the team needs.

Changing coaches can provide a fresh start, but rebuilding confidence, establishing a clear playing style and getting results still take work.

The club’s next decisions could shape the remainder of its season.

And if there’s one thing about Wydad’s supporters, it’s that they’ll be watching every development.
