After years of preparing fans for the end of The Weeknd, Abel Tesfaye has apparently decided he’s not ready to kill him off after all.
The singer has spent the past few years openly discussing the possibility of retiring “The Weeknd” as a stage identity, leading many fans to assume his recent projects were building toward a definitive goodbye.
That conversation became especially serious as Tesfaye began using his real name more publicly and expanding further into acting and film.
But now he’s making one thing clear: The Weeknd isn’t going anywhere.
In a recent interview, Tesfaye explained that while he had genuinely considered leaving the name behind, his thinking has changed. What appears to have ended is less the artist himself and more the particular story he had been telling through his recent albums.
