What happens when a streetwear icon meets centuries-old Indian craftsmanship?
PUMA has teamed up with Jaipur Rugs to reimagine its iconic Suede sneaker , bringing together the world of sneakers, street culture and traditional Rajasthan craft.
Called “The Legacy Lives On,” the collaboration takes inspiration from Jaipur Rugs’ signature craft vocabulary, with colours like maroon, dusty rose, ochre and sand appearing across the collection.
But this isn’t just about changing the colours of a sneaker.
PUMA and Jaipur Rugs are connecting two very different legacies: the Suede’s history in music, streetwear and self-expression, and Jaipur Rugs’ generations-old tradition of handmade craftsmanship in the villages of Rajasthan.
And they’re taking the collaboration beyond the shoe. PUMA is also bringing the partnership into music with “Suede Sounds,” a one-night listening experience in Mumbai featuring Indian artist Lifafa.
Basically: sneakers, craft and music : all in one collab.
And honestly, that’s what makes this one interesting: fashion brands aren’t just collaborating with other fashion brands anymore. They’re tapping into culture, heritage, music and communities to make a product feel like an experience.
