Pierre Cardin is getting his own museum in Venice, with hundreds of his creations set to be displayed in his former palazzo.
And here’s why this feels surprisingly relevant right now: the futuristic fashion Gen Z is obsessed with today isn’t exactly new.
Cardin was already playing with geometric silhouettes, metallic details, unconventional shapes and space-age aesthetics decades ago ,long before “futuristic fashion” became a TikTok aesthetic.
And if that sounds familiar, it’s because a lot of today’s futuristic, Y2K and maximalist aesthetics borrow from the same visual language.
At a time when fashion is moving away from quiet luxury and minimalism, Cardin’s unapologetically experimental designs feel surprisingly relevant again.
So maybe futuristic fashion isn’t coming back… maybe we’re just rediscovering what Pierre Cardin already figured out.
