Apparently gamers did not have enough upcoming games to keep track of.
The PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct 2026 showed off 36 games, including 13 world premieres, and the lineup went everywhere from enormous castles to horror, dungeon building and chaotic indie games.
One of the biggest announcements was Stronghold 4.
The long running strategy franchise is coming back, which means players will once again be building ridiculously large castles and then watching someone immediately try to destroy them.
The showcase also revealed a remastered version of Thief: The Dark Project, bringing the classic stealth game back for a new generation.
Then there was Lufia 1 & 2: The Sinistrals Saga, which is finally getting an official PC release.
And naturally, things got progressively stranger.
Games shown included Hellcard 2, Escape From Playtime, Fish & Ships, Lemonade Apocalypse, Beautiful Freaks of the Desert and Let’s Build a Dungeon.
There was also Brave New Wonders, where players command robots and rebuild society after an apocalypse.
Normal Tuesday in PC gaming, basically.
The Tokyo Direct was not really about one enormous blockbuster announcement.
Instead, it showed exactly why PC gaming remains so interesting.
Developers can make games about incredibly specific ideas and somehow find thousands of people who immediately want them.
Your Steam wishlist absolutely did not need another 36 games.
Unfortunately, nobody asked it.
