The 2026 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show had plenty of headline-making moments.
There were extravagant wings, major celebrity appearances and a Fantasy Bra worth millions.
But one of the evening’s most meaningful fashion moments came from someone who helped define the show long before social media existed.
Karen Mulder, one of Victoria’s Secret’s original Angels, returned to the runway at 57.
The Dutch supermodel made a surprise appearance during the October 18 show in Los Angeles, wearing an elegant black satin gown with matching accessories.
And for longtime fashion followers, her return carried a special significance.
Mulder was one of the defining faces of the 1990s supermodel era, appearing in major campaigns, magazine covers and runway shows for some of the industry’s most recognizable designers.
She also played an important role in Victoria’s Secret history.
In the late 1990s, she became one of the brand’s original Angels, helping establish the runway identity that would eventually become famous around the world.
Mulder has said she proposed the idea of incorporating angel wings into the show after being inspired by the television series Charlie’s Angels.
Her career later moved away from the spotlight, and she spent many years living a quieter life outside mainstream fashion.
Earlier this year, however, she signaled her intention to return.
In August, she appeared on the cover of Vogue Germany, marking an important moment in her comeback.
Now, her Victoria’s Secret appearance has brought that return to an even bigger stage.
And it arrives during a period when the fashion industry is increasingly celebrating established models alongside newer faces.
For Mulder, stepping onto the runway again wasn’t about recreating her 1990s career exactly as it was.
It was about returning on her own terms.
And perhaps that’s what made the moment stand out.
While fashion is constantly searching for the next big name, one of its original icons reminded everyone that a career doesn’t necessarily have an expiration date.
