Meta apparently looked at your TV, gaming setup and computer monitor and thought: what if all of that lived on your face?
At Meta Connect 2026, the company introduced its new Meta VR Glasses, a lightweight pair of virtual reality glasses weighing around 100 grams.
And unlike the Ray Ban Meta glasses, these are not mainly about taking photos, listening to music or having an AI assistant with you outside.
This is basically a screen you wear.
Meta says the glasses can create the feeling of watching content on a massive virtual display. That means movies can feel like they are playing on a cinema sized screen, even when you are sitting on your sofa.
Sports are part of the plan too, with immersive viewing designed to make games feel much closer to actually being inside the venue.
Then there is work.
Instead of carrying multiple monitors around, users can create several virtual screens in front of them. Meta even wants flat surfaces like a table to work as a virtual keyboard and touchpad.
Gaming is obviously coming along for the ride too.
The interesting part is the size. Traditional VR headsets have never exactly been known for disappearing on your face. Meta is trying to move the technology closer to something that actually looks and feels like glasses.
So no, these are not the Ray Bans you saw yesterday.
These are Meta asking a slightly bigger question:
What if you did not need a physical screen at all?
