When WIT Studio announces a new anime…
People pay attention.
After Attack on Titan, SPY × FAMILY and the upcoming The One Piece…
The studio is entering science fiction once again.
─────────
LONA is an original anime officially scheduled for Spring 2027.
Directed by Takashi Katagiri (SPY × FAMILY CODE: White) and written by Akiko Nogi, the series promises a deep psychological sci-fi story rather than a classic action anime.
─────────
The story takes place in a near future where humanity faces a mysterious threat:
People are being attacked…
By humans who are supposed to be dead.
To solve the mystery, a special organization called LONA (Laboratory of Optics and Neural Analysis) studies the brains and memories of the deceased, exploring questions about consciousness, memory and what remains after death.
─────────
What makes the project even more exciting…
Is the creative team.
Character designs are by Posuka Demizu, the artist behind The Promised Neverland.
The animation is handled by WIT Studio, known for some of the most visually stunning anime of the last decade.
─────────
From the very first teaser…
Fans have already compared LONA to classics like Ghost in the Shell, Psycho-Pass and Vivy: Fluorite Eye’s Song.
Instead of focusing on zombies…
It explores the human mind.
And that’s what makes it one of the most anticipated anime of 2027.
─────────
Sometimes…
The scariest mysteries aren’t monsters.
They’re the ones hidden inside our own memories.
─────────
But here’s the real question…
Could LONA become WIT Studio’s next masterpiece… or is Attack on Titan still untouchable?
