At this point, Lamine Yamal breaking age records is starting to feel like a weekly notification.
The Barcelona star has reached 50 La Liga assists at just 19 years old, becoming the youngest player to hit the milestone in the period tracked by Opta.
And he didn’t exactly sneak across the line.
Yamal provided two assists for Raphinha during Barcelona’s 3-1 win over Sevilla, adding yet another ridiculous statistic to a career that is still technically in its teenage years.
That last part is worth remembering.
Yamal made his Barcelona debut at 15. Since then, he has played on football’s biggest stages, won major trophies and repeatedly become the youngest player to achieve things that usually take entire careers.
At some point, calling him a “wonderkid” starts sounding outdated.
Because the scary part isn’t that Lamine Yamal could eventually become one of football’s biggest stars.
He already is one, and he’s still only 19.
