EA Sports FC 27 officially launches worldwide tomorrow, September 25, meaning everyone who skipped early access can finally get involved.
And while another FC release normally means updated squads, Ultimate Team grinding and arguments about whether the gameplay is actually better this year, FC 27 is trying something different.
One of the biggest additions is The Grounds, a new social experience designed to make FC feel like somewhere you can actually hang out rather than a collection of menus between matches.
Players can enter shared spaces with their avatars, meet other players and participate in football-related activities.
Basically: football playground meets online social world.
It’s an interesting direction for a franchise traditionally built around getting you onto the pitch as quickly as possible. EA seems increasingly interested in making FC a digital football space people spend time inside — even when they’re not playing a traditional 90-minute match.
And for Moroccan players, the idea makes a lot of sense.
Football here has never existed only during the actual game. It’s the group chat, cafés, jerseys, debates, celebrations and that one friend who suddenly becomes Pep Guardiola whenever his team loses.
Putting more of that social culture inside FC could make the game feel very different.
Of course, some things will never change.
Tomorrow still means new squads, new Ultimate Team grinds, questionable defending and friendships being seriously tested over goals that were definitely offside.
