Paris Fashion Week started yesterday.
Céline Dion apparently decided it needed a proper opening ceremony.
L’Oréal Paris held its annual Le Défilé show near the Eiffel Tower on Monday night, bringing together fashion, beauty and a long list of the brand’s famous ambassadors.
Kendall Jenner walked. Jane Fonda walked. Eva Longoria, Viola Davis and Andie MacDowell were there too.
Then the runway went quiet.
Céline Dion appeared in a black strapless gown with the Eiffel Tower behind her and started performing “I’m Alive.”
Yes, that I’m Alive.
The performance was kept as the big surprise at the end of the evening, with Dion eventually joined onstage by L’Oréal’s ambassadors.
It was also impossible not to think about another huge Paris moment.
In 2024, Dion made her highly anticipated return to live performance at the Paris Olympics, singing from the Eiffel Tower. Two years later, she was back beneath the landmark for another major public appearance.
Le Défilé is different from the traditional invitation only fashion show. L’Oréal turns the event into a public spectacle, combining runway looks with beauty and celebrity culture while streaming it to audiences around the world.
But this year, the clothes were never going to get the final word.

Fashion Week could have started normally.
