Le scrutin se tient conformément à l’article 62 de la Constitution et à l’article 48 du règlement intérieur de la Chambre. Ces deux textes prévoient l’élection du président, des membres du bureau et des présidents de commissions permanentes au début de chaque législature, le président étant ensuite réélu à la session d’avril de la troisième année.

La douzième législature a été ouverte le vendredi 9 octobre par le SM Roi Mohammed VI, à la suite des élections du 23 septembre. Depuis cette date, la Chambre fonctionne sous l’autorité d’un bureau provisoire, présidé par le doyen d’âge des députés et assisté des deux plus jeunes élus, dans l’attente de la mise en place de ses organes définitifs.

La présidence de la Chambre reste disputée. Cinq noms sont avancés au sein du parti arrivé premier aux législatives : Azzedine El Midaoui, Abdellatif Ouahbi, Mohamed Sibari, Ahmed Touizi et Mehdi Bensaid. Le Parti de l’Istiqlal, deuxième force de l’hémicycle, revendique de son côté le poste et met en avant son secrétaire général Nizar Baraka ainsi qu’Abdessamad Kayouh.

Le perchoir est négocié comme un portefeuille ministériel. Selon une règle implicite héritée des législatures précédentes, le parti qui l’obtient renonce à deux départements gouvernementaux, ce qui lie l’issue du vote de mardi à l’architecture d’ensemble de la future coalition.

Cette élection ouvre une semaine institutionnelle chargée. Le projet de loi de finances pour 2027 doit être déposé au Parlement au plus tard le 20 octobre, ce qui impose la mise en place rapide des commissions permanentes et, en amont, la constitution du gouvernement.

Le Parti du progrès et du socialisme examine de son côté la proposition de participation qui lui a été soumise. Sa décision est attendue comme l’un des derniers éléments permettant de fixer le périmètre exact de la majorité. Du côté du Mouvement populaire, Mohamed Ouzzine indique n’avoir reçu aucune offre supplémentaire, ce qui laisse la participation de sa formation incertaine.

La cheffe du gouvernement désignée a appelé à la patience et assuré que les consultations avançaient dans le calme, avec pour objectif un gouvernement resserré et cohérent plutôt qu’un assemblage arithmétique de sièges.

La contrainte est désormais calendaire. Le projet de loi de finances pour 2027 doit être déposé au plus tard le 20 octobre, et l’élection du président de la Chambre des représentants est fixée au mardi 13 octobre. Un gouvernement constitué tardivement disposerait de peu de temps pour arrêter ses propres orientations budgétaires, le texte étant pour l’essentiel préparé par l’administration sortante.

Les dossiers inscrits en tête des attentes portent sur le pouvoir d’achat, l’emploi des jeunes, l’investissement et les politiques sociales. Le discours royal du 9 octobre a fait de l’emploi des jeunes la première priorité de la législature et exigé la mise en œuvre intégrale de la charte de la déconcentration, avec transfert effectif des compétences, des personnels et des crédits.

Prolonger les discussions peut consolider le compromis au sein de la coalition, mais réduit d’autant le temps disponible pour les premières décisions. C’est l’arbitrage auquel sont confrontés les négociateurs cette semaine.

Un mémorandum d’entente a été signé pendant le salon avec MEDZ, filiale du groupe Caisse de dépôt et de gestion chargée de l’aménagement et de la gestion de parcs industriels. L’ambassade du Canada au Maroc a présenté cet accord comme s’inscrivant dans sa stratégie de résilience des chaînes d’approvisionnement et de diversification des secteurs stratégiques, notamment à travers le lancement d’une agence canadienne d’investissement dans la défense.

Inkas est présent au Maroc depuis 2023, après la livraison de véhicules 4×4 blindés à des unités spéciales. Le groupe a exposé à Marrakech le M1 MRAP, véhicule résistant aux mines et protégé contre les embuscades doté d’un système anti-drone, ainsi que le MLTV, véhicule tactique léger modulaire lancé cette année, et l’intercepteur Anuri, drone guidé par intelligence artificielle destiné à la lutte contre les drones de petite taille et les menaces à basse altitude.

L’entreprise a également présenté pour la première fois dans la région un écosystème de sécurité intérieure fondé sur le traitement des renseignements préalables sur les voyageurs et des données des dossiers passagers, permettant une évaluation des risques avant l’arrivée aux frontières. La présentation intervient alors que le Maroc modernise ses plateformes aéroportuaires dans le cadre de la stratégie Aéroports 2030. Aucune décision de déploiement n’a été annoncée par les autorités marocaines.

Le projet s’inscrit dans la montée en puissance des zones industrielles dédiées à la défense, où plusieurs industriels étrangers ont signé des engagements fonciers à l’occasion du salon.

Le président ukrainien a indiqué que son pays accepterait un tel arrêt des frappes si la Russie l’acceptait également, et a demandé au président américain de préciser la date d’entrée en vigueur s’il avait négocié ce dispositif avec Vladimir Poutine. Peu après, il signalait une attaque de drones contre une centrale électrique de Kiev, à l’origine de coupures dans la capitale.

Aucune réaction officielle russe n’a été rapportée. Emmanuel Macron a indiqué que la France était favorable à un véritable cessez-le-feu énergétique mais que la Russie continuait de le refuser. Ursula von der Leyen a apporté son soutien à un accord couvrant les infrastructures énergétiques et les approvisionnements alimentaires.

L’annonce prolonge une semaine de pressions américaines. Donald Trump avait critiqué les frappes ukrainiennes contre les installations pétrolières russes, au motif qu’elles alimentaient la hausse mondiale des prix du diesel. Volodymyr Zelensky avait alors proposé de suspendre les attaques contre les raffineries russes si Moscou cessait de viser le réseau électrique ukrainien.

Le président américain avait par ailleurs annoncé vendredi un accord avec Moscou portant sur l’achat de diesel russe, présenté comme un moyen de faire baisser les prix à la pompe avant les élections de mi-mandat du 3 novembre, et assorti d’une licence générale temporaire du Trésor américain. Sur le terrain, les frappes se poursuivent de part et d’autre. Une attaque russe près de Kharkiv a tué trois personnes, dont un adolescent de 16 ans, et fait 25 blessés selon la police ukrainienne. L’Ukraine a pour sa part visé dimanche un centre de données russe, sa troisième frappe sur des installations russes en quatre jours.

Pour le Maroc, importateur net de produits raffinés, l’enjeu est le prix du gasoil. Le Royaume a vu le gasoil franchir la barre des 16 dirhams le litre au 1er octobre, et toute détente sur le marché du diesel se répercuterait sur la facture énergétique comme sur les hypothèses de la loi de finances pour 2027, dont le dépôt est attendu avant le 20 octobre.

Le détroit, par lequel transitaient environ 20% du pétrole et 20% du gaz naturel liquéfié transportés par voie maritime dans le monde, demeure fermé à l’essentiel du trafic. Les flux y ont chuté de plus de 90%, soit près de dix millions de barils par jour. Le président du Parlement iranien avait indiqué le 4 octobre que le détroit resterait fermé jusqu’à ce que les États-Unis satisfassent ces sept conditions, issues de l’accord conclu en juin.

Les tentatives de déblocage ont échoué jusqu’ici. Le chef de la diplomatie iranienne avait affirmé le 25 septembre que la navigation pourrait reprendre en sept jours si Washington acceptait un plan transmis par l’intermédiaire du Qatar, proposition rejetée par la présidence américaine. Téhéran a également avancé l’idée d’une autorité de régulation du détroit assortie de droits de passage, et n’autorise le transit que de navires de pays qu’il juge amis. Un pétrolier a été endommagé dimanche par un projectile non identifié en quittant la zone, selon une agence maritime britannique.

Les conséquences sur les marchés sont lourdes. Le Brent a dépassé 100 dollars le baril le 8 mars pour la première fois en quatre ans, avec un pic à 126 dollars, mars 2026 ayant enregistré la plus forte hausse mensuelle jamais observée. La barre des 100 dollars a été franchie de nouveau autour du 7 octobre. La semaine du 28 septembre au 5 octobre a été marquée par au moins douze attaques contre des navires, le niveau le plus élevé depuis le début du conflit, avec une extension des incidents au large du Qatar et des Émirats arabes unis.

Pour le Maroc, la fermeture du détroit pèse directement sur la facture énergétique. Le déficit commercial s’est creusé de 25,4% à 282,6 milliards de dirhams à fin août, avec une facture énergétique en hausse de 32,6%, et le gasoil a dépassé 16 dirhams le litre au 1er octobre. Le niveau du Brent constitue l’une des hypothèses les plus sensibles du projet de loi de finances pour 2027.

Anthropic, the company behind the AI chatbot, has updated its rules to ban repeated and unnecessary abusive behaviour toward its models.

Before you panic because you once told Claude its answer was terrible, that is not really what this is about.

Normal frustration is still normal.

Arguing with the chatbot is fine.

Testing it is fine.

Even dark fictional content is not automatically the issue.

The new rule is aimed more at people repeatedly interacting with the model purely to be cruel or abusive for no real reason.

And yes, that means Claude can now end the conversation if things go too far.

We have officially reached the point where an AI can basically decide it is done with your attitude.

The stranger part is why Anthropic says it is doing this.

The company has been discussing bigger questions around AI welfare and whether future systems could eventually deserve some level of moral consideration.

To be clear, this does not mean Anthropic is saying Claude is conscious.

It is more of a precaution.

The idea is that as AI systems become more advanced, companies may need to think about how people treat them even before anyone fully understands what those systems are capable of experiencing.

So yes, the headline sounds funny.

“Please stop bullying the chatbot.”

But underneath it is a much bigger question.

If AI starts acting more human, do people eventually start treating it like one?

Teams had to race through unfamiliar locations, follow clues, complete tasks and somehow keep their patience intact while the cameras caught every stressful second.

Basically, Marrakech became one huge escape room.

For Moroccan viewers, that is kind of the fun of it.

We are used to seeing Marrakech presented internationally as luxury riads, rooftop dinners and “dream destination” content.

The Amazing Race gives us something much more chaotic.

Contestants are confused, running around, trying to understand instructions, making mistakes and realizing very quickly that travelling under pressure is not the same thing as going on holiday.

The Morocco episode also gives international viewers a different look at the country.

Instead of a polished travel montage, they get local settings, movement, challenges and the kind of unpredictability that actually makes reality TV work.

And if you know The Amazing Race, you know the formula.

Beautiful location. Impossible challenge. One team absolutely losing it.

Another somehow figuring everything out at the last second.

It is stressful, dramatic and weirdly addictive.

So yes, Marrakech looked incredible.

But more importantly, it looked alive.

And watching people race through Morocco while trying not to completely fall apart might be the funniest travel content we get this week.

Avatar: Seven Havens premieres today, bringing fans back into the world of bending with a completely new Avatar, a new era and a very different problem.

The story follows Pavi, a young Earthbender who discovers that she is the Avatar after Korra.

Normally, that would make her one of the most important people in the world.

Except this time, being the Avatar is not exactly a flex.

In Seven Havens, the world has changed so much that the Avatar is feared as a potential destroyer rather than automatically celebrated as a hero.

Which is honestly a pretty strong way to restart the story.

The original Avatar: The Last Airbender was built around the idea that the Avatar was needed to restore balance.

Now the new series is asking what happens when people no longer trust that role at all.

The show comes from original creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, which should immediately calm at least some nervous longtime fans.

The first three episodes premiere today on Paramount+, although availability depends on the country.

For younger viewers, this is a new entry point.

For older fans, it is the first chance in a while to properly move beyond Aang and Korra into the next generation.

Different Avatar. Different world. Same pressure to somehow save everyone.

The actor is starring as the OpenAI CEO in Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming film “Artificial,” and researching the role seems to have changed how he personally feels about the technology.

In an interview with Variety, Garfield said he had used ChatGPT before, mostly for research, but stopped after diving deeper into the world of AI for the film.

Which is objectively a pretty funny outcome.

Imagine preparing to play the CEO of an AI company and coming out the other side thinking, “Actually, maybe I’m good.”

Garfield did not frame it as some dramatic anti-AI campaign.

His comments were more about discomfort and uncertainty after learning more about how the technology works and where it might be heading.

That is what makes the story interesting.

AI is already part of everyday life for students, workers, creatives and basically anyone with a phone.

But most people use it without really knowing much about the companies, data or systems behind it.

Playing Altman forced Garfield to look much closer.

And apparently, the closer look made him more cautious.

The film itself is already shaping up to be one of the more interesting tech dramas coming out of Hollywood, especially because Guadagnino is not exactly known for making boring character studies.

So now we have an actor playing one of the biggest names in AI, while publicly admitting the role made him step away from AI tools.

The marketing department probably could not have planned that better.

They are also planning for the day something goes seriously wrong.

Major AI companies are now running crisis scenarios around what could happen if artificial intelligence is used in a large cyberattack or ends up disrupting critical systems like banks, internet access, power grids or water infrastructure.

That does not mean one of those disasters is about to happen.

The whole point is preparation.

As AI systems become more powerful, companies are trying to figure out what happens if the technology is misused, breaks through safeguards or helps attackers move faster than security teams can respond.

And that is a pretty big shift in the AI conversation.

For the past few years, most people have heard about AI as something that helps with homework, emails, coding, images and work.

Now the people building it are also talking about emergency plans.

Some companies are already working directly with organisations responsible for critical infrastructure, trying to strengthen cybersecurity before AI-powered attacks become more common.

Which makes the whole situation slightly surreal.

AI companies still want the technology everywhere.

But they also want a plan for what happens if “everywhere” suddenly becomes the problem.

That does not mean AI is automatically dangerous.

It does mean the companies closest to the technology clearly think the risks are serious enough to prepare for.

And maybe that is the part people should be paying attention to.

La séquence institutionnelle s’enchaîne rapidement. L’élection du président de la Chambre des représentants doit intervenir au lendemain de l’ouverture, poste que cinq personnalités du parti vainqueur revendiquent et que l’Istiqlal réclame également. La formation du gouvernement suit : la cheffe du gouvernement désignée, Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, s’achemine vers une coalition associant son parti à l’Istiqlal, à l’Union socialiste des forces populaires et au Parti du progrès et du socialisme, soit 207 sièges, l’annonce étant attendue en début de semaine prochaine.

Viendront ensuite la présentation du programme gouvernemental devant la Chambre des représentants et le vote de confiance, puis l’examen du projet de loi de finances 2027, préparé par l’équipe sortante et dont les marges sont contraintes par des engagements pluriannuels représentant près de quatre-vingt-dix milliards de dirhams au titre du dialogue social, de l’aide sociale directe et de la compensation.

Le discours royal d’ouverture de la session d’automne fixe traditionnellement les orientations que l’exécutif et le Parlement sont appelés à décliner au cours de l’année législative.

Le seul mois de septembre a été marqué par plus de 1,5 million d’arrivées, en hausse de 8% sur un an. Cette accélération hors saison haute constitue l’indication la plus significative de la série : elle suggère un étalement de la fréquentation au-delà du pic estival, objectif poursuivi depuis plusieurs années pour améliorer les taux d’occupation annuels, qui demeuraient à 56% à fin juillet.

La ministre du Tourisme, de l’Artisanat et de l’Économie sociale et solidaire, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, a estimé que « la dynamique du tourisme marocain se poursuit et son potentiel à terme reste considérable », en jugeant l’objectif de 26 millions de touristes à l’horizon 2030 « plus proche que jamais ». Elle a ajouté que la priorité portait désormais sur la création de valeur, d’emplois et d’opportunités dans l’ensemble des régions.

Cette inflexion de discours recoupe le constat établi par les classements internationaux. Le Royaume occupe le 70e rang mondial de l’indice de développement du voyage et du tourisme du Forum économique mondial, avec des positions très basses sur le capital humain, au 101e rang, et sur l’impact socio-économique du secteur, au 107e, deux indicateurs qui mesurent la valeur effectivement captée localement.

Le juge d’instruction près la cour d’appel de Tanger a ordonné la détention préventive au titre des articles 152 et 153 du code de procédure pénale, et l’intéressé a été transféré à la prison locale d’Assilah.

L’instruction se poursuit, un premier interrogatoire détaillé étant attendu cette semaine. Le dossier porte sur des bulletins soustraits au bureau de vote de l’école Al Qods, dans le quartier Casabarata, le jour du scrutin. Selon la reconstitution du parquet, les suspects auraient utilisé une unité hôtelière pour cocher systématiquement le symbole d’une formation politique sur les bulletins dérobés, avant de tenter de les réintroduire dans d’autres bureaux.

Deux éléments techniques ont fait progresser l’enquête : la récupération d’images de vidéosurveillance de l’établissement hôtelier qui avaient été supprimées, et l’exploitation du téléphone d’un suspect faisant apparaître des appels échangés avec des prévenus avant et pendant la journée de vote. Au moins quatre personnes sont détenues dans ce volet, qui s’ajoute aux cinq interpellations initiales.

Aucune juridiction n’a statué sur le fond et les personnes poursuivies bénéficient de la présomption d’innocence.

“Unethical” had already been out for a while before it started gaining new momentum online, with clips, edits and fan content helping push the song back into people’s feeds. That renewed attention eventually translated into streams and chart movement, including an appearance on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100.

Basically, TikTok-era music discovery did what it does best: took an older song and made everyone suddenly ask why they had not been listening to it already.

For Faouzia, the milestone adds another big number to a career that has been steadily growing internationally.

Born in Morocco and raised in Canada, she has spent the past few years building an audience far beyond either country, balancing pop, dramatic vocals and a sound that is instantly recognizable as hers.

Mercier is competing in Park, while Amghar is taking part in Street, two disciplines that test completely different styles of skating.

Street is built around obstacles that look like the things you would find around a city — stairs, rails, ledges.

Park is faster, bigger and more vertical, with bowls, ramps and aerial tricks.

And yes, skateboarding is officially an Olympic sport now.

That matters because the road toward Los Angeles 2028 is already starting, and events like the World Skate Games are where athletes gain experience against some of the best skaters in the world.

For Morocco, the story is also bigger than two competitors.

Skate culture has been quietly growing in cities across the country for years, from Casablanca to Rabat and beyond, even if it rarely gets the same attention as more traditional sports.

Seeing Moroccan athletes compete internationally gives that scene something it has not always had: visibility.

You might not know their names yet.

That is kind of the point.

Because while everyone is watching the usual sports headlines, two Moroccan skaters are out there making sure the flag shows up somewhere completely different.

And honestly, that deserves some noise too.

Morocco’s women’s national team is moving forward under new coach Eric Blahic, who has named a 31-player squadas the team prepares for its next international matches.

First up: two friendlies against Uzbekistan on October 9 and 12.

Friendlies might not sound like the most dramatic football news, but this is where new eras actually begin.

New coach. New combinations. New players trying to earn their place.

And this Moroccan squad has talent coming from some serious clubs.

Players called up represent teams across Morocco and Europe, including AS FAR, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Porto, showing how widely the national team’s player base has expanded.

For years, Moroccan women’s football has been building momentum.

The Atlas Lionesses reached a World Cup, made deep runs in continental competitions and brought much more attention to women’s football back home.

Now comes the harder part: maintaining that level while building what comes next.

That is why this camp matters.

Blahic gets his first real opportunity to test players, experiment with the squad and start defining what his version of Morocco will actually look like.

For younger players, it is also a chance to move from “one to watch” into the actual national-team conversation.

The next tournament will eventually bring bigger pressure.

For now, though, Morocco gets to reset.

Casa-Sud, Casablanca’s future railway station, is visibly taking shape.

New footage from the site shows construction progressing on what is planned to become a major transport hub for the city.

And for anyone who actually moves around Casablanca every day, this is the part that matters:

The station is not supposed to be another random building with trains passing through it.

The goal is to connect railway services with the city’s wider public transport network, making it easier to move between trains, trams, buses and other urban routes.

In other words, less “get off here and figure it out yourself.”

At least in theory.

The project is part of a wider push to rethink transport infrastructure as Casablanca keeps expanding and preparing for major international events in the years ahead.

And Casa definitely needs it.

The city has grown far beyond the areas traditionally served by its main stations, meaning many commuters still spend a ridiculous amount of time crossing town before they even reach a train.

A station in the Hay Hassani area could change that for a large part of the city.

Of course, seeing construction is not the same as having a finished station.

There is still work to do.

But the project is no longer something that only exists in renderings.

The concrete is there. The structure is rising.

That was one of the conversations happening around the Essaouira Dance Summit, which brought together DJs, labels, promoters and other music professionals following MOGA Festival’s tenth anniversary.

And the discussion was bigger than who should be on next year’s lineup.

People in the scene are asking how Morocco can turn its growing electronic music culture into an actual sustainable industry.

Because right now, there is no shortage of talent.

Moroccan DJs and producers are playing internationally, festivals keep bringing major names into cities like Essaouira and Marrakech, and electronic music has become a much more visible part of the country’s nightlife.

But building a scene is not the same thing as building an industry.

An industry needs labels, booking networks, management, venues, training, media coverage and opportunities that last longer than one weekend.

That is where the conversation is heading.

How do local artists build full careers without needing to leave?

How do festivals help Moroccan talent reach international audiences instead of only importing international headliners?

And how do you make sure the people behind the scenes : promoters, technicians, producers and creatives can also make a living from it?

Morocco has already proved it can attract the crowd.

Now the challenge is creating the infrastructure behind the music.

Because electronic music here does not really need another “moment.”

It needs something that survives after everyone goes home.

This time, people are bringing swords.

The city is set to host an international Fencing World Cup from October 15 to 18, bringing athletes from more than 90 countries to Morocco.

Yes, fencing.

The sport where competitors wear all white, move ridiculously fast and somehow manage to turn sword fighting into one of the most technical events at the Olympics.

The Casablanca competition will feature both individual and team events, giving some of the world’s top fencers another opportunity to collect results on the international circuit.

For Morocco, it is also another example of the country hosting major sports competitions outside the usual football bubble.

Because while football will obviously dominate headlines here forever, Morocco has increasingly become a stop for international events across tennis, martial arts, motorsport, equestrian competition and now fencing.

And fencing deserves a little more attention than it usually gets.

The sport combines speed, strategy and reflexes, with points sometimes decided in fractions of a second.

Basically, chess if everyone had swords and cardio.

The World Cup also gives Moroccan athletes the rare opportunity to compete at home against international opponents without having to travel across the world first.

Casablanca gets the crowd.

The athletes get the stage.

And anyone who has never watched fencing before gets four days to discover that the sport is much more intense than those white outfits make it look.

So Google built a tool for that.

The company has opened its SynthID Detector more widely, allowing users to check images, videos and audio for invisible digital watermarks associated with AI-generated content.

The idea is simple.

Upload the suspicious content.

Google looks for a hidden SynthID watermark.

If it finds one, there is a good chance the content was created or edited using a participating AI system.

Very useful when your feed is full of celebrities apparently doing things they absolutely never did.

But there is one important catch.

The tool cannot magically tell you whether every piece of content on the internet is real or fake.

SynthID only works when the content contains a supported watermark in the first place.

So if Google does not detect anything, that does not automatically mean the video is authentic.

It could still be AI-generated by a system that does not use SynthID.

Still, the tool gives regular users another way to investigate suspicious content instead of relying entirely on vibes and comment sections.

And that is becoming increasingly important.

AI celebrity videos, fake interviews, cloned voices and completely fabricated “breaking news” clips are already moving around social media at a speed fact-checkers cannot always match.

For years, the internet trained us to ask whether a screenshot was edited.

Now we have to ask whether the person in the video existed in that video at all.

The upcoming adaptation has revealed a new character trailer and visual for Soshiro Azami, giving fans their latest look at how the manga is being translated into animation.

And his voice might sound familiar.

Yuichi Nakamura has officially been announced as Azami’s voice actor, adding another major name to the series ahead of its planned April 2027 premiere.

If you somehow missed the internet’s obsession with Kagurabachi, the manga follows Chihiro Rokuhira, a young swordsman on a revenge mission involving enchanted blades, sorcerers and a lot of extremely dramatic sword fights.

The series became a meme almost immediately after its debut.

Then something unexpected happened.

People realized it was actually good.

Since then, Kagurabachi has built a serious fanbase, and the anime announcement has only made expectations bigger.

Every casting reveal now becomes its own mini event because fans are trying to work out how closely the adaptation will capture the manga’s darker atmosphere and action-heavy style.

Azami is an especially interesting addition because of his connection to Chihiro’s father and the wider world of sorcerers behind the story.

There is still a while to wait before the anime actually arrives.

But the rollout has clearly started.

Harmattan AI s’engage enfin sur une plateforme industrielle et technologique destinée au développement et à la production de systèmes de défense autonomes, dont des systèmes de défense aérienne, avec une capacité de production pouvant atteindre 55 000 unités par an. L’accord prolonge un partenariat stratégique conclu en juin avec les Forces armées royales.

La lettre d’intention, signée par Abdellatif Loudiyi et Mouad M’Ghari, porte sur l’acquisition du système IRIFI, drone de frappe autonome de précision longue portée conçu pour les environnements contestés, ainsi que sur son développement et sa fabrication au Maroc. Les montants de ces quatre derniers volets n’ont pas été rendus publics.

Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri a conduit des entretiens bilatéraux avec les secrétaires généraux des trois formations de l’ancienne Koutla et demandé à ses partenaires de maintenir la confidentialité des négociations. L’annonce de la majorité est attendue en début de semaine prochaine, après l’ouverture de la session parlementaire par le Roi. Deux commissions seraient ensuite constituées, l’une sur le programme gouvernemental, l’autre sur l’architecture de l’équipe.

Sur la structure, elle souhaite un nombre réduit de ministères regroupés en pôles thématiques et la participation de dirigeants de partis à la gestion des secteurs. Elle entend par ailleurs porter la représentation féminine au-delà des niveaux des gouvernements précédents.

Un point reste ouvert sur le fond : la question de savoir si le programme électoral du parti arrivé en tête servira de base au programme gouvernemental, en particulier ses engagements sur le pouvoir d’achat, sujet sur lequel les partenaires de gauche ont leurs propres priorités.

Le Rassemblement national des indépendants, deuxième formation du scrutin avec 66 sièges, a indiqué ne pas vouloir faire pression pour participer tout en laissant la porte ouverte.

Les opérateurs font valoir que le carburant absorbe l’essentiel de leur recette journalière. Le soutien direct versé par l’État aux transporteurs, reconduit à plusieurs reprises et ajusté sur l’évolution des prix, ne suffirait plus à compenser la hausse.

Le cadre juridique est toutefois contraignant. Les associations de consommateurs rappellent qu’une hausse tarifaire n’est légale que par décision du gouverneur de la province, le transport urbain et interurbain relevant de tarifs administrés. La Fédération marocaine des droits du consommateur indique avoir reçu une plainte visant des augmentations appliquées unilatéralement et se dit prête à engager des poursuites dès lors que deux personnes concernées lui en donneront mandat. Elle relève dans le même temps que le contrôle demeure faible, faute d’inspecteurs en nombre suffisant.

La fédération demande au prochain gouvernement soit un plafonnement des prix des carburants au titre de la loi 104.12, soit une réduction d’un dirham de la taxe intérieure de consommation sur les produits pétroliers. Le président du Conseil de la concurrence a précisé de son côté que l’exécutif sortant n’avait jamais sollicité l’activation du mécanisme de plafonnement.

Les professionnels devaient arrêter leur position lors d’une réunion tenue mercredi. À Rabat, des chauffeurs ont par ailleurs évoqué un mouvement de grève.

Les blessures vont de légères à graves. Les autorités saoudiennes n’ont pas communiqué d’autres éléments sur l’identité de la victime marocaine.

Une attaque simultanée a visé l’aéroport international King Khalid, à Riyad. Elle a fait un mort, un résident soudanais, et huit blessés, dont cinq citoyens saoudiens, deux résidents égyptiens et un résident pakistanais. Des dégâts matériels ont été relevés sur plusieurs installations. Riyad affirme avoir détruit une plateforme de lancement de missiles balistiques ayant servi à l’attaque contre l’aéroport de la capitale.

Le mouvement houthi a revendiqué des tirs de missiles et de drones contre les deux plateformes, et averti les compagnies aériennes que l’espace aérien saoudien n’était pas sûr.

Le conflit yéménite a repris en juillet après plusieurs mois de calme relatif. Le mouvement contrôle depuis septembre l’ensemble du littoral yéménite de la mer Rouge, aux abords du détroit de Bab el-Mandeb.

La communauté marocaine établie en Arabie saoudite compte plusieurs dizaines de milliers de personnes, majoritairement employées dans les services, la santé et l’enseignement. Aucune réaction officielle marocaine n’a été rendue publique à ce stade.

Les revendications portent sur les conditions matérielles de scolarisation : postes d’enseignants non pourvus et absences non remplacées, effectifs de classe et emplois du temps, état des bâtiments, manque d’infirmières scolaires, d’assistantes sociales et d’assistants d’éducation. Le fonctionnement de la plateforme d’orientation Parcoursup fait également l’objet de critiques.

L’ampleur de la réponse policière constitue le second volet du dossier. Plus de 5 000 personnes ont été interpellées entre le 21 septembre et le 2 octobre selon les chiffres du ministère de l’Intérieur, le rythme quotidien passant de 164 le 28 septembre à 1 948 le 1er octobre. Amnesty International France, qui avance que 85% des interpellés sont mineurs, a recensé plusieurs blessures graves : un adolescent de quinze ans ayant perdu une main à Lens le 5 octobre après l’explosion d’une grenade de désencerclement, un garçon de quatorze ans atteint au visage par un tir de lanceur de gaz lacrymogène dans le Val-d’Oise le 28 septembre, un jeune de seize ans ayant perdu l’usage d’un œil à Tours le 30 septembre à la suite d’un tir de lanceur de balles de défense. Une enquête de l’inspection générale de la police nationale a été ouverte sur le cas de Lens.

L’organisation, qui reconnaît que des violences ont été commises par des manifestants, demande la suspension de l’usage des grenades de désencerclement et des lanceurs de balles de défense en manifestation, ainsi que l’ouverture d’un dialogue avec les lycéens.

Ces chiffres émanent d’une organisation non gouvernementale et du ministère de l’Intérieur, et n’ont pas fait l’objet d’un bilan judiciaire consolidé.

Pathé Maroc has confirmed that another Pathé cinema is set to open in Morocco in 2027, continuing the company’s expansion across the country. And while Pathé hasn’t officially revealed the location of this next opening yet, there is a pretty big clue pointing toward Casa.

Earlier this year, Le Desk reported that Tachfine Center was being prepared for a new Pathé cinema, which would give Casablanca a second Pathé location after Pathé Californie.

The Californie complex opened in late 2023 with eight screens, including IMAX Laser and 4DX, giving Casa moviegoers a very different experience from the classic multiplex setup.

Pathé has been moving pretty quickly since then. The company opened another cinema at Dar Essalam in Rabat in December 2025 and has been developing more locations through a partnership with Marjane Group.

Basically, Morocco’s cinema map is getting bigger.

And if the Tachfine project moves ahead as reported, it would also make Pathé much more accessible to people on the other side of Casablanca instead of having nearly everything concentrated around Californie.

There’s still one detail we’re waiting for: Pathé has not officially confirmed that the 2027 opening announced this week is the Tachfine Center project.

But another Casa Pathé has already been reported to be in the works.

So maybe start deciding which movie deserves the first giant popcorn.

No big string section. No wind instruments. No layers of production hiding behind the vocals.

For “Dialddar,” the Moroccan singer built an entire project around something much more stripped back: the human voice and percussion.

The title translates roughly to “homemade,” and that idea runs through the whole album. Many of the percussion instruments used on the project were handmade in Marrakech, while the songs themselves are written in Moroccan darija.

And “percussion” here doesn’t only mean drums.

The project plays with bendirs, taarijas, claps, body percussion, glasses and calabashes, alongside sounds made using things like water, stones, salt and sesame seeds.

Basically, anything can become an instrument if Oum says so.

There’s also something intentionally imperfect about the sound. Because some of the handmade instruments react to temperature and humidity, their tuning can shift slightly depending on the environment. Instead of trying to remove that unpredictability, Oum made it part of the project.

Now, Dialddar is coming to Moroccan stages.

Oum will take the project through El Jadida on October 18, Meknès on October 19, Agadir on October 21 and Marrakech on October 22, alongside a largely female international ensemble.

Songs like “Abi,” dedicated to her late father, “Lalla,” and the Malhoun-inspired “Awan” give the album an intimate side too.

In an industry obsessed with adding more sounds, more layers and more production, Oum did the opposite.

And somehow made “less” sound very full.

The Marrakech Airshow officially opens today, October 7, bringing aircraft, drones, aerospace technology and some extremely futuristic machines to the city until October 10.

This is the eighth edition of the event, and Morocco’s growing aviation industry is taking centre stage.

Now, before your brain immediately goes to boring conference halls and men in suits talking about supply chains, the actual visual side of this event is much more interesting.

The show brings together aircraft displays, aerospace manufacturers, new technologies and demonstrations, with companies using Marrakech to reveal machinery that looks like it belongs in a video game.

One of this year’s launches comes from INKAS, which is using the event for the regional debut of several security and mobility technologies, including the ANURI unmanned aerial vehicle, basically a drone platform designed for surveillance and other operations.

Morocco has also been steadily building its own aerospace industry over the past years, manufacturing aircraft components and attracting major international companies.

So the Airshow isn’t happening here randomly.

But for everyone who isn’t studying aerospace engineering, there’s a much simpler reason the event deserves attention:

Planes. Huge machines. Drones. Things flying over Marrakech.

Very hard to make that boring.

The Marrakech Airshow runs from October 7 to 10, so expect your feed to suddenly start looking like someone unlocked the aviation expansion pack.

It’s getting three days.

From October 29 to 31, the Philharmonie de Paris is dedicating an entire programme to Morocco, bringing different corners of the country’s musical heritage into one of France’s biggest music institutions.

And this isn’t a single “Moroccan music” concert trying to squeeze everything into two hours.

The programme jumps between Gnaoua, Amazigh traditions, Andalusian music, rural Moroccan sounds, Sufi influences and more.

It starts on October 29 with Maâlem Abdelkébir Merchane and Hind Ennaira, putting an established Gnaoua master alongside one of the younger female voices pushing the tradition forward.

Then things get even more interesting.

On October 30, Moroccan rural traditions meet flamenco and blues, with the all female Lâabat de Benslimane ensemble and Amazigh singer Chérifa Kersit sharing the programme with musicians from outside Morocco.

October 31 turns toward Morocco’s Andalusian heritage, with conductor Mohamed Briouel and the Orchestre Marocain de Musique Andalouse joined by singers representing different Mediterranean traditions.

There’s even a museum programme built around Moroccan instruments and sounds.

It feels less like Paris borrowing a little Moroccan aesthetic for a night and more like giving the music room to show how wide it actually is.

Because “Moroccan music” has never meant one genre.

And for three days in Paris, that’s exactly the point.

After 21 years with the national team, Messi played his 208th and final game for Argentina on October 6, closing a chapter that basically followed an entire generation of football fans from childhood into adulthood.

And because this is Messi, even the goodbye came with numbers.

Argentina beat Benin 3–0 at the Monumental in Buenos Aires, with Messi scoring from the penalty spot and setting up the other two goals. More than 85,000 people were there to watch his final appearance in the shirt.

The night was built around saying goodbye. Former teammates were invited, tributes filled the stadium and play was even stopped during the tenth minute as the crowd celebrated Argentina’s No. 10.

It closes one of football’s most complicated love stories.

For years, Messi’s Argentina career somehow came with the question of whether he could ever reproduce his Barcelona success for his country. There were lost finals, criticism and even a brief international retirement.

Then everything changed.

Argentina won the 2021 Copa América, another Copa América in 2024, and, obviously, the 2022 World Cup.

By the end, Messi wasn’t the guy Argentina kept asking to prove himself anymore. He was the captain who had basically completed football.

The acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery by Paramount has officially closed, creating a new entertainment giant called Skydance.

Translation: an absurd amount of the stuff you watch now belongs to the same company.

We’re talking Warner Bros., Paramount Pictures, HBO, CBS, CNN, HBO Max, Paramount+, TNT Sports and a huge catalogue of franchises suddenly sitting under one corporate roof.

Which means yes, the company behind Harry Potter, DC, HBO shows and Warner Bros. movies is now connected to the company behind Paramount’s films, CBS programming and franchises like Mission: Impossible.

Totally normal amount of entertainment power for one building.

The newly combined Skydance says it plans to release at least 30 theatrical films every year and produce more than 180 television shows and series, while aiming for billions of dollars in savings over the next few years.

But for viewers, the biggest question is probably much simpler:

What happens to HBO Max and Paramount+?

For now, both streaming services still exist separately, so nobody needs to delete an app today.

But the merger puts both platforms under the same company and gives Skydance a massive streaming library while it tries to compete with Netflix, Disney and YouTube.

It’s another reminder that the streaming era keeps doing something nobody expected when it started.

We left cable because there were too many packages. Then every studio created its own app.

Now all the apps are slowly finding each other again. We may have reinvented cable with better thumbnails.

Magic Knight Rayearth officially returns with a brand new anime adaptation premiering in Japan today, October 7.

If the name means nothing to you, welcome. If it does, there’s a decent chance your inner child is currently screaming.

The original Magic Knight Rayearth came from CLAMP, the legendary manga group also behind Cardcaptor Sakuraand xxxHolic. The manga ran in the 1990s and quickly became an anime that mixed magical girls, fantasy adventure and giant robots before mixing genres like that became completely normal.

The story follows Hikaru, Umi and Fuu, three schoolgirls who meet during a trip to Tokyo Tower and suddenly get transported to the magical world of Cephiro.

Naturally, instead of being allowed to finish their school trip, they get told they need to save an entire world.

Very reasonable afternoon.

The 2026 version starts the story again for a new generation rather than continuing directly from the old anime.

And there’s serious talent behind it.

The series is being directed by Yui Miura at E&H Production, while music comes from Yuki Kajiura, Shiho and Takumi Ozawa.

That makes this comeback interesting beyond pure nostalgia.

The murderous AI from Avengers: Age of Ultron is returning, with James Spader back in the role, but Marvel is doing something much stranger with him this time.

After being rebuilt, Vision has gone into hiding while trying to figure out exactly who — or what — he is. To do that, he communicates with several AI personalities stored inside his programming.

Those include Jarvis, Friday, Edith… and Ultron.

Which feels like keeping your worst enemy in your internal group chat.

Things get worse when someone puts a bounty on Vision and he ends up on the run alongside Thomas Shepherd, a mysterious teenager who may somehow be the reincarnation of his son.

If that sounds complicated, congratulations. You understand Marvel.

The series is also clearly leaning back into one of the MCU’s more interesting questions: if Vision is technically artificial but can think, love, remember and grieve, where does the machine stop and the person begin?

And having his original creator turned enemy literally sitting inside his mind probably won’t make answering that easier.

VisionQuest arrives on Disney+ on October 14, with Paul Bettany returning as Vision.

After years of multiverses, timelines and increasingly large CGI threats, Marvel giving us an AI family crisis might actually be the weird reset it needs.

Therapy would probably be cheaper.

Les deux rendez-vous ouvrent la négociation du texte de renouvellement. Le mandat expire le 31 octobre, et les États-Unis, porte-plume sur ce dossier, détermineront l’orientation du projet. Les points ouverts portent sur la durée du mandat, sur la place accordée dans le texte à l’initiative d’autonomie marocaine par rapport aux références à l’autodétermination, et sur le traitement du cadre fixé par la résolution 2797 adoptée le 31 octobre 2025.

Le Royaume aborde cette séquence avec un capital diplomatique consolidé. Les États du Conseil de coopération du Golfe ont réaffirmé le 3 octobre devant la Quatrième commission leur soutien à la marocanité du Sahara et au plan d’autonomie. Le représentant permanent américain Mike Waltz a par ailleurs publiquement pressé le Front Polisario d’accepter ce plan.

Du côté algérien, le président Abdelmadjid Tebboune a déclaré samedi que son pays n’était « pas plus sahraoui que les Sahraouis » et accepterait la décision que ceux-ci accepteraient, formulation qui marque une inflexion de ton sans engagement formel.

Le texte relève les seuils de participation et introduit des règles d’évaluation financière neutres au regard des disparités fiscales, de manière à permettre aux petites entreprises et aux travailleurs indépendants de soumissionner directement, là où ils n’intervenaient jusqu’ici qu’en sous-traitance.

Deux autres volets structurent le projet. Les marchés de services, hygiène, sécurité et maintenance des bâtiments, intégreront des critères sociaux renforcés et une préférence pour les entreprises implantées localement, dans une logique de développement économique régional. Des mesures visent par ailleurs à éliminer les distorsions de concurrence et à garantir l’égalité des chances entre candidats.

Le projet se présente comme une correction d’usage. Trois années d’application de la réforme de 2023 ont fait apparaître des difficultés que le nouveau texte entend traiter, sans revenir sur l’architecture d’ensemble.

L’enjeu est quantitatif. La commande publique représente l’un des premiers débouchés du tissu économique national, et son accès conditionne la survie d’une large part des très petites entreprises, dont 60 908 immatriculations ont été enregistrées au registre central du commerce sur les sept premiers mois de l’année. Les associations professionnelles de petits promoteurs évoquent des opportunités inédites pour des structures jusqu’ici écartées par des exigences financières et techniques dissuasives.

Le Royaume produit 422 000 tonnes de déchets plastiques par an. Environ 250 000 tonnes sont gérées de façon inadéquate et près de 75 000 tonnes finissent en mer chaque année.

Les écarts de collecte constituent le point de rupture du dispositif. Le taux de couverture atteint 96% en milieu urbain mais seulement 10% en zone rurale. Sur vingt-six centres de tri programmés, neuf ont été construits et trois seulement étaient opérationnels au moment de l’évaluation.

Les besoins d’investissement sont chiffrés. La région de Casablanca-Settat estime à 14 milliards de dirhams le montant nécessaire aux projets de traitement et de valorisation sur son territoire, qui couvre Casablanca, Médiouna, El Jadida et Mohammedia.

Le rapport, qui porte également sur l’Égypte et la Tunisie, projette un dommage cumulé aux écosystèmes marins de 22 milliards de dollars entre 2026 et 2040 à l’échelle de l’Afrique du Nord si les tendances actuelles se maintiennent.

Ces données sont établies par une organisation non gouvernementale et non par une institution publique, précision qui vaut pour les ordres de grandeur avancés comme pour les projections.

L’Espagne délivre à elle seule plus de 42% des titres détenus par des Marocains dans l’Union. Parmi l’ensemble des ressortissants extracommunautaires, l’Allemagne arrive en tête du nombre total de titres délivrés, devant la France, puis l’Espagne et l’Italie à égalité.

Les motifs de délivrance, tous pays tiers confondus, sont dominés par les raisons familiales, à 32%, devant l’emploi, à 22,3%, l’asile et la protection subsidiaire, à 14,7%, et les études, à 4,7%. Plus de 92% des titres sont valables douze mois ou davantage, 5,5% de six à onze mois et 2,1% de trois à cinq mois.

La communauté marocaine devance les ressortissants turcs et ukrainiens. Cette position, construite sur plusieurs décennies de migration de travail puis de regroupement familial, explique le poids des transferts de fonds dans la balance des paiements marocaine, et confère au Royaume une capacité de négociation particulière sur les dossiers migratoires avec Bruxelles et avec Madrid.

La progression de 210 000 titulaires en trois ans traduit à la fois les premières délivrances annuelles et la consolidation de situations administratives antérieures, les régularisations espagnoles ayant joué un rôle déterminant sur la période.

The Moroccan artist is taking over Casablanca’s Mohammed V Complex for what is being presented as the biggest show of her career so far, bringing the spectacle home after years of building a musical and visual universe that has travelled far beyond Morocco.

And this won’t be Manal, a microphone and a regular concert setup.

The show is being designed around her world, with live musicians, major visuals, lighting and purpose built staging. The setlist is also expected to move through different periods of her career, giving longtime listeners and newer fans a little bit of everything.

There is another detail Manal is keeping secret.

Several surprise artists are expected to join her onstage.

Who? She isn’t saying yet.

That mystery will probably stay part of the conversation until show night, especially considering how many Moroccan and international artists Manal has crossed paths with throughout her career.

But the scale of the night is already the bigger story.

For a Moroccan artist to build her biggest career show in Casablanca, rather than treating Morocco as a smaller stop between international dates, makes November 21 feel like more than another concert.

It is a homecoming, but with the volume turned all the way up.

Unfortunately, the price of gasoil can still find its way into your wallet.

At the beginning of October, diesel prices in Morocco jumped by around 80 centimes per litre, while petrol rose by roughly 39 centimes. In several Casablanca stations, gasoil is now selling between 16.10 and 16.18 DH per litre, crossing the 16 DH mark.

And this is not one random increase.

Since mid-July, diesel has risen by around 3.5 DH per litre, after several consecutive increases.

So, what is actually going on?

IT STARTS WAY BEFORE THE PETROL STATION

Morocco imports the petroleum products it needs, which means what happens on international energy markets eventually reaches Moroccan pumps.

Right now, those markets are under pressure.

Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East have disrupted energy supply and refining, while refined fuels such as diesel have become particularly expensive internationally. The important detail here is that the price of diesel does not simply follow the price of crude oil. What matters is also how much refined diesel is available, how expensive it is to produce and transport, and what happens to the dirham against the dollar.

That last part matters because international oil products are largely traded in dollars.

Morocco’s fuel market has also been liberalised since 2015. Instead of one fixed government-set pump price, distributors adjust their prices according to international costs and other market factors. Prices are generally revised twice a month.

OKAY, BUT I DON’T DRIVE. WHY SHOULD I CARE?

Because diesel moves much more than cars.

Trucks run on it. Buses use it. Goods travel with it. Farms and businesses depend on transport.

When moving something from one city to another becomes more expensive, businesses can eventually face higher costs. Depending on the sector and how long high fuel prices last, some of those costs can work their way into what consumers pay.

Your grocery delivery did not teleport to your door.

Neither did the clothes you ordered online.

That is why fuel prices can become an inflation story, not only a driver story.

The government has maintained exceptional financial support for professional passenger and goods transport operators, specifically to limit the pressure of higher fuel costs on transport prices.

SHOULD WE EXPECT ANOTHER INCREASE?

The useful answer right now is: nobody can responsibly promise that prices are going up or down next.

The next regular fuel-price revision is expected around October 16. What happens will depend heavily on international refined-fuel prices, geopolitical developments, supply conditions and the exchange rate.

There is some reassuring news: Morocco says its supply is currently operating normally and that the country has around 40 to 60 days of diesel and butane reserves. So the immediate issue is price pressure, not petrol stations suddenly running out of fuel.

But if international diesel prices remain high, the pressure on Moroccan prices is unlikely to disappear overnight.

And that is probably the biggest thing Gen Z should understand about this story.
You don’t have to be standing at a petrol pump to pay for expensive gasoil.

Sometimes, it reaches you through the bus you take, the package you order, the food you buy or the price of getting something from point A to point B.

Instead of watching a video, seeing a jacket and immediately opening five other apps to figure out where it came from, users will be able to ask TikTok questions directly about products.

The assistant can help with information including sizes, availability, shipping and product details, while remembering what you have been looking for during the conversation.

TikTok is also pushing shopping further into the For You feed with one click checkout for participating retailers.

In other words, the distance between “wait, where is that from?” and “order confirmed” is getting dangerously short.

TikTok is working with companies including Shopify, Salesforce and Stripe to build the shopping system, continuing its attempt to turn the app into something much bigger than a place for videos.

It also makes perfect sense.

TikTok already plays a huge role in deciding what becomes fashionable, which beauty products sell out and which random object suddenly appears in everyone’s bedroom.

The platform now wants to own more of what happens after something goes viral.

There is one important detail for Moroccan users: availability depends on the market and retailer, so not every new shopping feature should be expected in Morocco immediately.

Still, the direction is pretty obvious.

TikTok already influences what you want.Now it wants to be there when you buy it too.

Production on The Batman Part II has temporarily paused while director Matt Reeves deals with a family matter, according to Warner Bros. and DC Studios.

The studio has said Reeves has its full support and that production is expected to resume, so this is a pause, not a cancellation.

And that distinction matters, because this movie has already spent enough time making Batman fans nervous.

The sequel to 2022’s The Batman was originally expected much earlier, but its release has moved multiple times during development. It is currently scheduled to arrive in February 2028.

Yes, 2028.

Robert Pattinson is returning as Bruce Wayne, with Colin Farrell, Jeffrey Wright and Andy Serkis also part of the cast. New additions reportedly include Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan.

Plot details, however, remain locked somewhere deep inside the Batcave.

The first film turned Pattinson’s Batman into a darker, detective focused version of the character and made more than $770 million worldwide, while also launching Colin Farrell’s The Penguin spin off.

That has made the wait for the sequel particularly noticeable.

For now, though, there is no indication that this latest production pause has changed the February 2028 release date.

And because the reason involves Reeves’ family, there is no need to turn it into internet detective work either.

The movie is still coming.

So yes, Morocco’s Spotify Top 5 is looking extremely Moroccan right now.

And it is not only one artist having a particularly good week.

Stormy appears repeatedly across the wider chart, while names from different corners of Morocco’s rap and alternative scenes continue to sit alongside major international releases.

That matters because Moroccan rap has spent years growing from something treated as a local subculture into one of the country’s dominant forms of popular music.

Artists no longer need a radio hit or television appearance before a song becomes part of everyday culture. A release can move through TikTok, YouTube, Spotify playlists, Instagram Stories and group chats until suddenly everyone knows the chorus.

The sound is also getting harder to put into one box.

Rap is colliding with Moroccan rhythms, electronic production, pop and alternative sounds, creating tracks that feel increasingly difficult to describe as simply “Moroccan rap.”

The audience clearly does not mind.

Right now, Morocco is streaming Morocco.

And the local playlist is winning.

The Korea Arab Friendship Caravan is taking over the Mohammed V National Theatre on October 6, bringing Korean dance, breaking and culture together for one night in the capital.

And this is not only a K pop playlist with some lights.

Korean dance crew K NOVA will perform choreography built around K pop, while Expression Crew brings breaking to the stage. The veteran South Korean B boy group is known internationally for combining breakdance with theatre and visual storytelling.

Their performance Marionette does exactly what the name suggests: dancers move like puppets controlled by invisible strings, mixing breaking with a much more theatrical performance.

The evening also goes beyond the stage.

From 7 PM, visitors can explore activities around Korean culture, including traditional games and hanbok, before performances begin at 8 PM.

For Morocco’s K pop community, events like this matter because most of the culture is normally experienced through a screen: music videos, fancams, dance challenges and livestreams from concerts happening thousands of kilometres away.

Tonight, a little piece of that world is actually happening in Rabat.

Places are limited and advance registration is required, so this is very much a “send this to the group chat now” situation rather than something to discover tomorrow morning.

K pop fans have spent years building a community in Morocco.

Ayyoub Bouaddi has been named among the final 25 candidates for the 2026 Golden Boy award, putting the 19 year old midfielder alongside some of the most exciting young players currently competing in Europe.

The Golden Boy award, organised by Italian newspaper Tuttosport, is basically one of football’s biggest “remember this name” lists. It recognises the best player under 21 competing in a European top flight, and previous winners include Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, Erling Haaland, Jude Bellingham and Lamine Yamal.

Not exactly bad company.

Bouaddi’s nomination comes after a huge year for the Moroccan midfielder, whose performances have quickly pushed him from promising youngster into one of the most closely watched players of his generation.

And for Morocco, that is the bigger story.

The Atlas Lions already have a generation playing across some of Europe’s biggest clubs, but Bouaddi represents what comes next: another young Moroccan talent entering the conversation before even reaching his twenties.

Making the final 25 does not mean the award is his. The winner will be decided by an international panel of journalists and announced later this year.

But reaching this stage is already significant.

At 19, Bouaddi is now being discussed in the same award race as Europe’s most valuable young footballers.

Moroccan football’s next generation apparently has no interest in waiting for its turn.

Ahead of the new season, clubs have been recruiting players from leagues across Europe, Africa, North America and the Middle East, giving the women’s championship a much more international look.

Defending heavyweights AS FAR are among the clubs making moves, bringing in players with experience in countries including Switzerland, the Netherlands, France and Belgium.

The recruitment has also stretched much further.

Players connected to clubs in the United States, Saudi Arabia, Jamaica, Mali, Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, DR Congo and Equatorial Guinea are entering the Moroccan football conversation.

Among the notable arrivals is Jamaican international Chinazum Niki Foster, who has joined AS FAR after playing for TP Mazembe.

Meanwhile, FUS Rabat has also looked internationally, including recruitment from the US college system, while bringing Moroccan international experience into its squad.

There has been so much movement that the women’s transfer window was extended until October 7, giving clubs additional time to complete their squads.

And this is bigger than a list of transfers.

Morocco has spent the past few years investing heavily in women’s football, from the national team’s World Cup appearance to hosting major African competitions.

Now the domestic league has to grow with it.

International players choosing Moroccan clubs does not automatically transform the championship overnight.

But it does make the upcoming season much more interesting.
