Casablanca to Essaouira for 800 DH? Yes, round trip

stache.societé

If you’ve been dreaming about escaping Casablanca for a weekend but don’t feel like spending hours on the road, there’s some good news.

Essaouira is about to become a lot easier to reach.

Royal Air Maroc has announced the return of direct flights between Casablanca and Essaouira, with the first service scheduled for November 1, 2026.

And the price might be the most interesting part.

The airline is introducing a fixed round-trip fare of 800 MAD in economy class, while business class tickets will cost 1,600 MAD for a return journey.

The new connection will operate twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays, giving travelers another option for visiting the coastal city.

Flights departing Casablanca are scheduled for 4 PM on Wednesdays and 8:20 AM on Sundays, with the journey taking approximately one hour and twenty minutes.

That’s considerably less time than travelling between the two cities by road.

For anyone unfamiliar with Essaouira, the city is known for its blue fishing boats, historic medina, Atlantic beaches and relaxed atmosphere.

It’s also become a favorite destination for people interested in music, art, surfing and escaping the pace of Morocco’s larger cities.

The connection is being introduced through a partnership between Royal Air Maroc and the Marrakech-Safi region, with the aim of improving domestic travel and supporting regional tourism.

Tickets are already available through the airline’s official booking channels.

For young Moroccans planning short trips, the new route offers an interesting option, particularly for people who prefer flying over a long road journey.

Of course, airport transfers, luggage and other travel expenses still need to be considered.

But 800 dirhams for a return flight between Casablanca and Essaouira?

The weekend group chat might finally have a reason to make actual plans.
