Brazil might soon become a little easier to reach from Morocco.
And no, we’re not talking about adding another connection through Europe.
Royal Air Maroc has expanded its direct flights between Casablanca and São Paulo, while revealing plans to launch a new route to Rio de Janeiro by the end of 2027.
For anyone who’s ever dreamed of visiting Brazil, that’s an interesting development.
Five flights a week. And more on the way.
On October 29, Morocco’s national airline introduced its fifth weekly direct flight connecting Casablanca and São Paulo.
The route operates using a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, with departures from Casablanca scheduled on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
And this is only part of the airline’s expansion.
Royal Air Maroc wants to increase the São Paulo route to daily flights by 2028.
It also plans to open a direct connection to Rio de Janeiro toward the end of 2027.
Why Brazil?
Since returning to the Brazilian market in late 2024, Royal Air Maroc has been working to strengthen connections between South America, Morocco and other international destinations.
The Casablanca hub allows travelers arriving from Brazil to connect to cities across Africa, Europe and beyond.
According to the airline’s reported figures, the São Paulo route carried approximately 80,000 passengers in both directions in 2025.
And the company wants to keep growing.
So, can we book Rio already?
Not yet.
The Rio de Janeiro route remains a future plan, with no confirmed ticket sales or final operating schedule.
And while additional flights can make travel more convenient, they don’t automatically mean cheaper fares.
Moroccan travelers will also still need to check the entry requirements applicable to their trip.
But one thing is clear: Casablanca is strengthening its position as a connection point between Africa and South America.
And if the Rio route goes ahead as planned, Brazilian beach days could become a little easier to organize.
