Battlefield is about to get even bigger.

EA and Battlefield Studios have officially teased the next free Battlefield 6 update, and one feature is stealing all the attention:

Naval combat is making its return.

For longtime fans, this is a huge moment.

Large-scale sea battles were one of the defining features of classics like Battlefield 3 and especially Battlefield 4, where destroyers, attack boats and amphibious assaults created some of the franchise’s most memorable moments.

Battlefield 6 is now bringing that experience back with warships, amphibious vehicles and maps built around land, sea and air combat, expanding the sandbox beyond traditional infantry battles.

The update is part of Season 4, which launches later this month and introduces a brand-new battlefield inspired by a coastal military conflict.

Players can expect:

  • New naval vehicles.

  • Faster amphibious assaults.

  • A large map combining beaches, ports and open water.

  • New weapons, gadgets and seasonal rewards.

Like every Battlefield 6 seasonal update, all gameplay content—including maps and modes—will be available for free to every player. Only cosmetic items remain part of the optional premium Battle Pass.

But that’s not all.

Developers have also teased « major surprises » without revealing exactly what they are.

The community is already speculating about the possible return of iconic vehicles, new Portal experiences and additional large-scale events. EA hasn’t confirmed these rumors yet, but the studio says more announcements will arrive as Season 4 approaches.

This update continues Battlefield 6’s redemption story.

After the disappointing launch of Battlefield 2042, EA completely reworked its approach. Battlefield 6 returned to the series’ roots with class-based gameplay, large-scale destruction and traditional warfare, while seasonal updates have steadily expanded the experience with new maps, weapons and modes.

With the return of naval warfare, Battlefield 6 is bringing back one of the franchise’s most beloved features. If the new update delivers on its promises, players could soon be fighting across land, sea and air in the biggest battles the series has seen in years.
