Batman fans finally have something big to look forward to.
And no, we’re not talking about Robert Pattinson’s next live-action movie.
—
A brand-new animated film,
Batman: Knightfall Part 1,
will premiere next month at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France.
—
But this isn’t just another DC animated movie.
It’s the beginning of a full trilogy adapting one of the most legendary Batman stories ever written: Knightfall.
—
For longtime fans,
the name Knightfall means only one thing:
Batman vs Bane.
The story that changed Gotham forever.
—
Back in the 1990s comics,
Bane didn’t simply fight Batman.
He systematically destroyed him.
First, he released every major criminal from Arkham Asylum: Joker,
Scarecrow,
Poison Ivy,
and dozens of others.
Batman spent days fighting non-stop, exhausted and injured.
Then Bane attacked.
—
The result became one of the most iconic moments in comic book history.
Batman gets his back broken by Bane.
A scene so famous that it later inspired
The Dark Knight Rises.
—
According to DC Studios,
this first film will focus on Bane’s rise and Batman’s downfall,
while Parts 2 and 3 are expected to explore the aftermath and Gotham’s future.
—
The project is being directed by
Jeff Wamester,
with a screenplay written by
Jeremy Adams,
a well-known name among DC fans.
—
What makes this even more interesting
is that the trilogy will exist separately from: The Batman universe,
The Brave and the Bold,
and the rest of DC’s live-action projects.
—
In other words,
DC is betting so heavily on Knightfall
that it’s giving the story three full movies to breathe.
—
And honestly…
if there’s one Batman story that deserves an entire trilogy,
it’s probably the one where Gotham watches its greatest hero fall.
