Amazon’s live-action God of War series has been forced to restart production after lead actor Ryan Hurst, who plays Kratos, suffered a torn bicep while performing a stunt. The injury required surgery and months of recovery.

The consequences are huge.
Four full episodes had already been completed…
But because Kratos appears in virtually every scene, Amazon decided to recast the role and reshoot everything from scratch instead of waiting for Hurst to recover.

The irony?
Ryan Hurst had reportedly gained around 40 pounds of muscle to physically transform into the Ghost of Sparta.
Despite all that preparation…
His performance will never make it to the screen.

Amazon MGM Studios hasn’t revealed who will replace him yet.
Production is now expected to resume around October, pushing the series even further back after years of development setbacks.
