Morocco’s next generation of futsal players begins an important international campaign on November 2, facing Portugal in its opening group-stage match in Dakar, Senegal.
The Moroccan U18 national team enters the competition alongside Portugal, Paraguay and the Solomon Islands, with its first fixture providing an early opportunity to measure itself against a country with a strong international futsal tradition.
The match is scheduled for 1 PM Morocco time, with further group-stage fixtures against Paraguay on November 4 and the Solomon Islands on November 7.
For the young Moroccan squad, the tournament represents more than a series of competitive matches. It offers valuable experience against opponents with different playing styles, while introducing the players to the demands of international competition.
Futsal, played with five players per side on a smaller indoor court, places particular emphasis on technical ability, quick decision-making and teamwork. With limited space and little time on the ball, even small mistakes can quickly change the outcome of a match.
Morocco’s senior national team has established a strong reputation in African futsal, supported by years of development and international success. Maintaining that progress will depend partly on the emergence of younger players capable of competing at the highest levels.
The U18 squad’s participation provides an opportunity to observe how the next generation is developing.
Regardless of the opening result, the experience gained in Dakar could play an important role in shaping the future of Moroccan futsal.
