Remember when everything was transparent?
Game controllers, landline phones, colorful electronics that let you see what was happening inside.
Well, PlayStation wants to bring that era back.
Sony has officially introduced the Prism Collection, a new lineup of transparent PS5 controllers and matching console covers inspired by late-1990s gaming design.
And honestly, they’re giving major Y2K nostalgia.
The collection introduces three translucent finishes:
Flare Orange, a bright orange with a slightly rosy effect.
Emerald Green, a deep green that reveals the controller’s internal design.
And Graphite Gray, a darker, more minimal version of the transparent aesthetic.
Each controller features a glossy finish that allows players to see parts of the technology beneath the surface.
Matching PS5 console covers are also part of the collection.
According to Sony’s design team, the idea was to revisit the transparent electronics trend of the late 1990s while giving it a more modern appearance.
But when can you get one?
The Prism Collection is scheduled to launch on February 4, 2027, with preorders opening November 10, 2026.
The DualSense controllers will retail for $84.99 (approximately 835 MAD), while matching PS5 console covers will cost $74.99 (around 735 MAD).
Availability will vary by country, and official Moroccan prices have yet to be announced.
Why is transparent tech is coming back?
Fashion and technology have been borrowing from the late 1990s and early 2000s for years.
From digital cameras to wired headphones and retro gaming consoles, old-school aesthetics keep finding new audiences.
And with the Prism Collection, PlayStation is tapping directly into that nostalgia.
It’s not introducing a new controller with completely different gaming features.
It’s bringing back a design that people remember loving.
And sometimes, making technology look fun again is enough to get everyone’s attention.
Now the real question is: orange, green or gray?
