BayWatch is coming back. And Megan Thee Stallion is on the beach

Red swimsuits, dramatic ocean rescues and people running in slow motion.

If that sounds familiar, there’s a reason.

Baywatch is officially returning to television on January 6, 2027, and its new cast includes some names Gen Z will definitely recognize.

Fox has confirmed the premiere date for its revival of the iconic lifeguard drama, with a new trailer offering another look at the action.

And yes, Megan Thee Stallion is involved.

New faces. Same beach drama.

The series follows Hobie Buchannon, played by Stephen Amell, who has grown up and become a lifeguard captain, following in the footsteps of his father Mitch.

But things get complicated when Charlie, a daughter he never knew he had, suddenly enters his life and wants to become a lifeguard herself.

Alongside Stephen Amell, the cast includes Shay Mitchell, Noah Beck, Brooks Nader, Hassie Harrison and Livvy Dunne.

It’s an interesting mix of television actors, models and social media personalities.

And then there’s Megan Thee Stallion.

The rapper makes a brief appearance in the new trailer as a beachgoer, reacting to one of the lifeguards and wondering how she can get him to rescue her.

It’s a cameo, not a starring role, but it’s already one of the trailer’s most recognizable moments.

Why is everyone bringing back old shows?

The original Baywatch became a worldwide television phenomenon throughout the 1990s, turning its red swimsuits and beach rescues into pop-culture symbols.

Now Fox is introducing that universe to a generation that might know the franchise mostly through memes, clips or the 2017 film.

The new series promises a familiar mix of rescues, relationships and over-the-top beach drama, updated with a new cast.

Whether Gen Z actually connects with the revival remains to be seen.

But with TikTok personalities, familiar actors and Megan Thee Stallion appearing on the same beach, it’s certainly trying to get everyone’s attention.
