After years of helping decide who gets to perform at the Super Bowl, JAY-Z has finally picked someone very familiar.
Himself.
The rapper has officially been announced as the headliner of the 2027 Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show, scheduled for February 14 at SoFi Stadium in California.
And considering how much influence he’s had over the halftime show in recent years, this announcement feels like a full-circle moment.
From choosing the artists to being the artist
Since 2019, JAY-Z’s company Roc Nation has worked with the NFL to shape the musical direction of the halftime show.
During that time, the stage has welcomed artists including Rihanna, The Weeknd, Usher, Kendrick Lamar and Bad Bunny.
But despite his involvement behind the scenes, JAY-Z had never performed as a halftime headliner himself.
Until now.
The announcement also comes during a milestone year for the rapper, who’s celebrating three decades since the release of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt.
His career has since grown far beyond music, with 25 Grammy wins and major influence across entertainment, fashion and business.
So, who’s joining him?
That’s the question everyone’s already asking.
Over the years, JAY-Z has worked with some of the biggest names in music, including Beyoncé, Kanye West, Rihanna and Alicia Keys.
And the Super Bowl is known for surprise appearances.
But no surprise guests have been officially confirmed, so any dream lineup is still speculation.
What we do know is that this performance will put one of hip-hop’s most influential figures on one of the world’s biggest entertainment stages.
After years of watching him help build the halftime show’s legacy, audiences are finally getting a performance built around his own.
And on Valentine’s Day, no less.
