Apparently The Witcher 3 has decided that eleven years old is not old at all.
CD Projekt Red is releasing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered today, giving the 2015 RPG another major visual and technical upgrade.
And if you already own the game, the best part is simple: The upgrade is free.
Players who previously bought any version of The Witcher 3 can upgrade to the Remastered edition within the same platform ecosystem without buying Geralt’s entire life story again.
The new version is launching on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
The changes go much further than making Geralt’s hair slightly prettier.
CD Projekt says the remaster includes improved lighting and shading, upgraded textures and character models, better grass and foliage, updated visual effects for Witcher Signs and other graphical improvements.
Some assets from the popular HD Reworked Project, originally created by the modding community, have also been incorporated into the new version.
There is another nice surprise too.
Owners of the base game are getting access to Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, the two major expansions that helped make the complete Witcher 3 experience enormous.
More than a decade after release, people are somehow still finding reasons to return to this game.
At this point, Geralt has survived monsters, wars, multiple console generations and the entire TikTok era.
And apparently retirement is still not happening.
