If your playlist still has Usher, Nelly, Aaliyah and Destiny’s Child on rotation, you might want to keep Thursday night free.
Old School Vibes is coming to Casablanca on September 17, bringing its throwback mix of ’90s and 2000s Hip-Hop and R&B to the city.
The Casablanca stop is set to take over Skybar Casablanca for a special Terrace Edition, with DJ CHANGE, DJ QT and DJ CHICO G behind the decks for what the organizers are calling “The Magic 3.”
And the concept is pretty simple: no pretending you don’t know every word when Yeah! comes on.
Old School Vibes is built entirely around the era that gave us oversized jerseys, low-rise jeans, flip phones, music videos on MTV and some of R&B and Hip-Hop’s most recognizable tracks.
Expect music from the worlds of Usher, Aaliyah, Nelly, Destiny’s Child, 50 Cent, Sisqó and plenty more from the late ’90s and 2000s.
Basically, it’s the playlist your older siblings grew up with — and the one Gen Z somehow brought back.
The timing makes sense. Y2K culture has spent the last few years taking over fashion, TikTok and pop culture, while songs released more than two decades ago regularly find completely new audiences online.
Now Casablanca gets the party version.
Casablanca forts, Rabat next.
The Casablanca edition takes place Thursday, September 17 at Skybar, before Old School Vibes heads to Rabat on Friday, September 18.
For Casa, the terrace setting gives the night a slightly different vibe from the usual club throwback party: open air, city views and several hours of unapologetic 2000s nostalgia.
So if hearing the first three seconds of an old Usher song is enough to unlock a memory you didn’t know you had, you already know where this is going.
