Morocco is taking AI a little more seriously.
The government has officially moved its “Morocco AI 2030” strategy into its implementation phase, with one huge goal: making AI a real part of Morocco’s economy, education and public services , not just something we use on ChatGPT.
And the numbers are BIG.
By 2030, Morocco wants AI to generate 100 billion dirhams in added value for the economy, create 50,000 direct and indirect jobs, and train 200,000 people in AI. The plan even includes introducing AI education from childhood.
But what does that actually mean for us?
One of the first concrete projects is Idarati AI, an AI assistant designed to help people understand and complete administrative procedures. Morocco is also launching a sovereign AI marketplace, where AI solutions can be accessed in an environment designed to keep data protected and infrastructure under Moroccan control.
The country is also building the JAZARI network, dedicated to AI research, innovation, education and industry.
Basically, Morocco isn’t trying to be just an AI user anymore. The goal is to become an AI builder.
And if the plan works, the next few years could mean more AI jobs, more startups, more AI education and a lot more AI showing up in everyday Moroccan life.
So the real question is:
