Outer Banks Ends Tonight — And Morocco Is Part of the Final Adventure

lifstyle

Pogues, this is it.

After six years, treasure hunts, betrayals, insane escapes and enough bad decisions to fill an entire island…

Outer Banks is ending tonight.

Season 5, the final season, drops on Netflix today, August 20, with all 10 episodes arriving at once.

And there’s something especially interesting for Moroccan fans:

Morocco is part of the story.

After the events of Season 4, the Pogues are left stranded far from home and dealing with the loss of JJ. They’re also still chasing the Blue Crown while trying to take back control of their lives.

But here’s the part that makes this really cool for us:

Some of the Morocco you see in Outer Banks is actually Morocco.

Not a green screen.

Not some random location pretending to be Morocco.

The production really came here.

The Moroccan sequences in Season 4 were filmed around Cap Hadid, Essaouira and the Ouarzazate region. Netflix’s production guide confirms those locations.

And Cap Hadid?

That’s where the Pogues’ arrival on the Moroccan coast was filmed.

Think huge dunes, Atlantic coastline and that dramatic desert-meets-ocean landscape.

That’s real Morocco.

Then there’s Essaouira.

The city’s old streets, medina and waterfront became part of the Pogues’ Moroccan adventure.

And honestly…

If you’ve ever walked through Essaouira, spotting those locations in Outer Banks hits completely differently.

You’re watching a massive Netflix production…

And suddenly you’re like:

« WAIT… I KNOW THAT PLACE. »

Then you’ve got Ouarzazate.

The Moroccan city that’s basically been Hollywood’s secret weapon for decades.

And in Outer Banks, the surrounding region was used for the fictional city of Agapenta.

So you’ve got a Netflix treasure hunt…

Filmed across actual Moroccan landscapes…

With Essaouira’s architecture…

Cap Hadid’s coastline…

And Ouarzazate’s cinematic desert scenery.

That’s a pretty insane Moroccan cameo.

But there’s one important distinction.

The fact that Morocco plays a major role in the story of Season 5 does not mean Season 5 itself was filmed in Morocco.

Available production information indicates that the fifth season was filmed primarily in South Carolina, with additional filming in Croatia. Morocco’s confirmed filming belongs to Season 4.

So don’t let TikTok clips confuse you:

Morocco is central to the plot… but the Moroccan locations we recognize were filmed for Season 4.

And that’s actually what makes tonight’s release interesting.

Because millions of people around the world are going to watch Outer Banks

And Morocco is literally part of the final chapter’s history.

For Moroccan viewers, there’s an extra game you can play:

Spot the locations.

Is that Essaouira?

Is that Cap Hadid?

Did they use Ouarzazate here?

And suddenly you’re not just watching the Pogues.

You’re playing « Where is Morocco hiding in this shot? »

But beyond the locations…

This is the end.

John B.

Cleo.

Rafe.

The Pogues have spent years chasing treasure and running from danger.

Tonight…

they get their final adventure.

August 20.

10 episodes.

One final season.

And somewhere in that story…

Morocco is leaving its mark on one of Netflix’s biggest teen series.

So grab your snacks.

Avoid spoilers.

And keep your eyes open.

Because tonight, while the Pogues are trying to bring their story home…

you might recognize a little piece of ours on the screen.
