For years…
When people talked about the video game industry…
They mentioned Japan.
The United States.
France.
South Korea.
But almost never…
Morocco.
That might be about to change.
For the first time ever, Morocco will have its own national pavilion at Gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany—the biggest video game exhibition in Europe. And it’s not sending just one studio…
It’s bringing 11 Moroccan startups to showcase local talent on the global stage.
This isn’t just another trade show.
Every year, Gamescom attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors, along with the biggest publishers, investors and developers in the gaming industry. It’s where partnerships are signed, games are discovered, and careers can change overnight.
The goal is simple…
Show the world that Morocco isn’t just a country that plays games.
It’s becoming a country that creates them.
The national pavilion will highlight independent studios working on mobile games, PC titles, gamification projects and new technologies, while giving them direct access to international publishers and investors.
And this move is part of something much bigger.
The Moroccan government has launched an ambitious strategy to build a real gaming ecosystem, with incubators, specialized training, international partnerships and even the future Rabat Gaming City. The long-term objective is to transform gaming into a major economic sector worth 3 billion dirhams by 2032.
For years, many Moroccan developers dreamed of working abroad.
Now…
The ambition is to make the world come to Morocco instead.
The real question is…
Could one of these 11 startups create the next global gaming hit… and put « Made in Morocco » on millions of screens around the world?
