The little purple dragon is making his long-awaited return.
After nearly two decades without a brand-new adventure…
Spyro: A Realm Beyond is officially in development.

The game is scheduled to launch in Spring 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
Even better…
It will be available day one on Xbox Game Pass.
──────────
Developed by Toys for Bob, the studio behind Spyro Reignited Trilogy and Crash Bandicoot 4, the game is designed as a fresh starting point.
You won’t need to play the older Spyro games to understand the story, although longtime fans can expect plenty of references to the classic trilogy.

The biggest gameplay upgrade?
Flying.
For the first time, Spyro will enjoy true free-flight mechanics, allowing players to dive, soar, and explore much larger environments instead of simply gliding for short distances. The developers say the goal was to make players genuinely feel like they’re controlling a dragon.

As for the story…
Spyro becomes stranded in a mysterious new realm that’s under attack by an invading force known as the Scavs.
To save the Dragon Kingdom, he’ll need to forge new alliances and stop the invasion before the realm is transformed forever.

After 18 years…
One of gaming’s most beloved mascots is finally getting a brand-new adventure.
And if Toys for Bob delivers on its promise…
Spyro: A Realm Beyond could mark the beginning of a new golden era for 3D platformers.
