For years…
Fans have wondered if God of War could ever become a live-action series.
Well…
It’s happening.
But the road to Valhalla hasn’t been easy.

The series is being produced by Prime Video and will adapt the story of God of War (2018).
That means we’ll follow Kratos and his son Atreus on their emotional journey through the world of Norse mythology, as they try to fulfill Faye’s final wish.

The cast is packed with familiar faces.
Originally, Ryan Hurst was chosen to play Kratos, alongside Callum Vinson as Atreus.
The series also features Mandy Patinkin as Odin, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor, Ed Skrein as Baldur, Teresa Palmer as Sif and Max Parker as Heimdall.

But here’s the twist…
Production has hit a major setback.
Ryan Hurst suffered a serious bicep injury during filming, forcing Amazon to recast Kratos and reshoot the episodes that had already been completed.

Because of that…
The series, which was initially expected to arrive in early 2027, has now been delayed indefinitely.
Filming is expected to resume once a new Kratos has been cast, making a 2028 release increasingly likely.

Even with the delay…
The ambition remains the same.
A faithful adaptation of one of PlayStation’s greatest stories…
Blending brutal action…
Epic Norse mythology…
And the powerful father-and-son relationship that made God of War unforgettable.
