When people talk about the best grapplers in MMA, one name almost always comes up first:

Khamzat Chimaev.

His wrestling, relentless pressure and ground control have made him one of the most feared fighters on the planet.

But according to Sean Strickland, there’s one man who’s even better.

And surprisingly…

It’s Yaroslav Amosov.

The former Bellator welterweight champion, who recently made a successful transition to the UFC, impressed Strickland so much during training that the middleweight champion openly called him a better grappler than Khamzat Chimaev.

That’s a huge statement.

Remember, this is coming from the man who handed Chimaev the first loss of his professional MMA career and reclaimed the UFC middleweight title earlier this year.

So when Strickland compares someone to « Borz, » people listen.

What makes Amosov so special?

The Ukrainian built his reputation in Bellator with elite wrestling, relentless positional control and outstanding submission skills.

Since arriving in the UFC, many believe he has all the tools to become a serious contender—and Strickland’s praise only adds to the hype.

Of course, calling someone a better grappler than Khamzat doesn’t automatically make them the better fighter.

Chimaev remains one of the most dangerous athletes in mixed martial arts thanks to his explosiveness, pressure and finishing ability.

But if anyone was wondering who has earned Sean Strickland’s respect on the ground…

Now we have the answer.

Yaroslav Amosov.
