The wait is over.
Apple has officially released the public beta of iOS 27, giving millions of iPhone users early access to the company’s next major software update—months before its official release this fall. But before hitting the install button, there are a few things you should know.
──────────
Unlike the developer beta, the public beta is designed for everyone.
Anyone with a compatible iPhone can try iOS 27 for free by joining Apple’s Beta Software Program. Installation is simple: enroll your Apple ID, then head to Settings → General → Software Update → Beta Updates and select iOS 27 Public Beta. Apple strongly recommends backing up your device beforehand, as beta software can still contain bugs.
──────────
So, what’s new?
The headline feature is Siri AI, Apple’s completely redesigned voice assistant powered by Apple Intelligence. Siri is now more conversational, better at understanding context and can perform more complex tasks across apps. iOS 27 also introduces new AI-powered tools, including smarter photo editing, improved writing assistance and deeper system-wide intelligence. However, some AI features remain limited to newer iPhone models compatible with Apple Intelligence.

Beyond artificial intelligence, Apple has refined the overall experience.
Users will notice a refreshed interface with updated Liquid Glass design elements, faster app launches, smoother animations and improvements to core apps such as Messages, Wallet, Photos and Maps. Performance optimizations are also aimed at making the system feel more responsive while improving battery management on supported devices.

But remember…
This is still beta software.
Although it’s more stable than the developer version, users may still encounter app compatibility issues, unexpected crashes or increased battery consumption. That’s why Apple advises installing the beta on a secondary iPhone if possible, rather than on your main everyday device.

The final version of iOS 27 is expected to launch in September, alongside Apple’s next generation of iPhones. Until then, the public beta gives users an early look at what could become one of Apple’s biggest software updates in years, with AI playing a central role in the iPhone experience.

If you’ve been curious about Apple’s AI future, iOS 27 Public Beta is your first chance to experience it. Just remember: early access comes with early bugs.
