Just days before its theatrical release, early screenings have generated overwhelmingly positive reactions, with reviewers describing the film as a « stunning achievement, » « pure cinema, » and a « spectacular epic. »

The film adapts Homer’s legendary epic poem, following Odysseus on his dangerous journey home after the Trojan War.
The cast is packed with Hollywood stars, including:
Matt Damon as Odysseus.

This is also Christopher Nolan’s most ambitious production yet.
With an estimated $250 million budget, The Odyssey is the most expensive film of Nolan’s career, surpassing Oppenheimer, Interstellar and Dunkirk.
Filming took place across Morocco, Greece, Italy, Iceland, Scotland and the United States, using real locations instead of relying heavily on CGI.

The movie is making history from a technical standpoint as well.
It’s the first feature film ever shot entirely on 70mm IMAX film, after Nolan worked directly with IMAX engineers to develop new cameras capable of handling the production’s demanding environments.

Matt Damon also underwent a dramatic physical transformation for the role.
The actor followed an intense training program and strict diet, dropping to around 167 pounds (76 kg) to portray the battle-worn Greek hero as authentically as possible.
