Rockstar Nerfs GTA Online’s Biggest Money-Makers — Including Cayo Perico

Making money in GTA Online just got harder.

With the launch of The Kortz Center Heist, Rockstar has quietly rebalanced the game’s economy by reducing payouts across several of its most profitable heists and missions—and the biggest loser is once again The Cayo Perico Heist.

The most significant changes affect Cayo Perico’s loot.

The value of every primary target has been reduced, including the Pink Diamond, while secondary loot such as gold, cocaine, artwork, cash and weed has also been cut. In addition, the force-launch timer for the finale has increased from 2 minutes to 3 minutes, slowing down repeated farming runs.

The changes don’t stop there.

Rockstar has also adjusted rewards for several other activities, including:

Diamond Casino Heist

The Doomsday Heist

The Contract

Cluckin’ Bell Farm Raid

Oscar Guzman Flies Again

KnoWay Out

Most repeat payouts have been reduced, while weekly first-completion bonuses have been added to encourage players to rotate between different activities instead of endlessly grinding the same heist.

Why make these changes?

According to community analysts, Rockstar wants players to shift toward the brand-new Kortz Center Heist, which now offers some of the most lucrative rewards in the game and serves as GTA Online’s final major heist update before GTA VI launches.

The reaction from the community has been overwhelmingly negative.

Many players argue that GTA Online already requires a significant grind to earn money, and reducing payouts this late in the game’s lifecycle feels unnecessary. Others believe Rockstar is intentionally steering everyone toward the new content instead of letting players choose their preferred way to make money.

After years as the king of easy cash, Cayo Perico has officially lost another piece of its crown. Rockstar wants players to move on—and the Kortz Center Heist is clearly the future of GTA Online.
