Morocco is making its mark…
Not on the football pitch this time—but in science.
At the 56th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO), held from July 4 to 12 in Bucaramanga, Colombia, the Moroccan team won one silver medal and one honorable mention during only the Kingdom’s second participation in the prestigious global competition.

The Moroccan delegation was made up of five high school students, selected by the Ministry of National Education:
Ikram Amazzal
Hafsa Boukhajjou
Jad El Mouden
Adam Mirhiss
Said Talhmrite

Their success wasn’t the result of a few weeks of preparation.
Throughout the year, the students received intensive training combining support from the Ministry with a mentoring program led by Math&Maroc, including weekly coaching sessions and preparation for both the theoretical and experimental exams that make the IPhO one of the world’s toughest science competitions.

The International Physics Olympiad brings together the world’s best young physicists each year.
Participants face complex problems requiring advanced mathematical reasoning, laboratory skills and deep scientific understanding—far beyond the level of a typical high school curriculum.

For Morocco, this result is another sign of growing excellence in international scientific competitions.
After just two appearances at the IPhO, earning a silver medal and an honorable mention highlights the potential of the country’s young scientific talent and the impact of specialized training programs.

Math&Maroc says this achievement is only the beginning.
The association plans to continue developing Morocco’s presence in international Olympiads, with the ambition of winning even more medals in future editions.

Morocco’s future isn’t only being built in stadiums—it’s also taking shape in laboratories and classrooms, where a new generation of young scientists is proving it can compete with the very best in the world.
