The retro handheld market is evolving fast.

Just days after launching the Retroid Pocket Nova, Retroid has already teased its next device…

And it could be one of its most ambitious consoles yet.

According to an official teaser, Retroid is developing a dual-screen handheld scheduled for the second half of 2026.

The goal?

Challenge the increasingly popular AYN Thor, one of the newest stars in Android handheld gaming.

While the final name hasn’t been revealed, many fans believe it could become the Retroid Pocket Flip 3, replacing the current Pocket Flip 2.

The clamshell design and dual displays would make it an ideal machine for Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS emulation, where two screens are essential.

Retroid hasn’t shared the full specs yet…

But expectations are high.

The company is expected to upgrade to a much more powerful chipset than the Snapdragon 865 or Dimensity 1100 used in previous Flip models, allowing smoother emulation and better multitasking across both displays.

The announcement comes at a time when dual-screen handhelds are making a huge comeback.

Following the success of devices like the AYN Thor, manufacturers are betting that nostalgia for the Nintendo DS era can be combined with modern Android performance.

For retro gaming fans…

This could be one of the most exciting handhelds of 2026.

A compact clamshell design.

Two displays.

And the promise of playing classic DS and 3DS games the way they were originally meant to be played.

If Retroid delivers on its promise… the next handheld war might not be about raw power anymore—it could be all about two screens.
