When people think of music festivals…
They usually imagine huge crowds and giant stages.
But this summer…
Rabat is taking a different approach.
─────────
From July 16 to 23, Morocco’s capital will host its first Chamber Music Festival, organized by El Akademia.
The event will bring together young musicians, internationally renowned artists and classical music lovers for a week of free concerts and an international masterclass.
─────────
The festival opens with an evening dedicated to opera, featuring works by legendary composers such as Mozart, Wagner, Richard Strauss and Handel.
International artists, including performers from the Berlin Opera, will share the stage with rising Moroccan talent.
─────────
But the goal goes beyond music.
The festival is also launching « Opera for All », an educational initiative that will begin rolling out in Moroccan schools during the 2026–2027 academic year, helping introduce younger generations to classical music.
─────────
Throughout the week…
The audience will enjoy tango performances, chamber music concerts and the final showcase of young musicians who have spent days training with world-class mentors.
Every concert will be free and open to the public.
─────────
It’s another sign that Morocco’s cultural scene continues to grow.
Not only through major festivals…
But also by creating spaces where young talent can learn, perform and inspire.
─────────
But here’s the real question…
Would you attend a classical music concert if it were free… or do you think this genre still needs to win over a younger generation?
