Adobe acquires Topaz Labs to supercharge AI-powered editing

tech

Adobe is making a major move in the race for creative AI.

The company has announced the acquisition of Topaz Labs, the developer behind some of the

industry’s most advanced AI-powered image and video enhancement tools.

─────────

Topaz Labs is best known for technologies that can sharpen images, reduce noise, upscale

resolution and restore old footage while preserving impressive levels of detail.

─────────

Adobe plans to integrate these capabilities into Creative Cloud and its Firefly AI platform, giving

creators faster, higher-quality editing tools directly inside apps like Photoshop, Lightroom and Premiere Pro.

─────────

A key part of the deal is Topaz’s on-device AI technology, which allows powerful AI models to run locally

on users’ computers, delivering faster performance while reducing reliance on cloud processing.

─────────

Adobe says Topaz’s existing products will continue to be available as standalone applications,

while the acquisition is expected to close in the second half of 2026, pending regulatory approval.

─────────

One thing is clear.

Adobe is betting that the future of creative software will be powered by smarter

AI—and Topaz Labs is now a key part of that vision.
