With the 2030 World Cup ahead, the two countries maximize bilateral trade and investments to boost economic momentum.

The meeting co-chaired by the Moroccan Minister of Industry and Commerce and the British Minister of State for International Trade was a notable event of the week in Morocco. Rabat hosted the 4th session of the Morocco-United Kingdom Association Council on June 2nd, with the broader goal of redefining the economic and strategic partnership between the two kingdoms.

The partnership seeks to create synergy between Morocco and the UK by targeting several objectives: doubling trade volumes, maximizing investments in Morocco, supporting the organization of the 2030 World Cup, advancing UK entry into the African market, and strengthening Morocco’s global economic presence.

According to Moroccan Minister of Industry and Commerce Ryad Mezzour, the growing interest of British companies in Morocco was evident in the conference’s participation numbers, which rose to 50 this session from approximately 15 in the previous session.

On the other hand, the minister stated that Morocco is committed to facilitating the entry of these companies into the national industry, seizing the opportunity to open up new prospects, create high-value-added jobs, and secure production chains.

This collaboration comes at a timely moment, as Morocco prepares to host the 2030 World Cup and affirms its position as a gateway between Europe and Africa. In this light, the partnership will not only focus on agricultural and manufactured products and services but also extend to British expertise to ensure the success of the international football event.

The partnership also covered the tourism sector, which is a profitable and foundational sector for Morocco’s economy. Mr. Bryant encouraged citizens of his country to consider Morocco as a tourist destination and also welcomed Moroccans to the United Kingdom.

To further demonstrate the United Kingdom’s official interest in Morocco, Mr.Bryant is making an official visit at the head of a British delegation of senior government and private sector representatives. During this visit, further discussions are expected regarding the commitments made during the Association Council session.

In short, this session of the Morocco-United Kingdom Association Council aimed to make trade and investment partnerships more robust, especially in light of the 2030 World Cup preparations in Morocco. The discussions went beyond traditional sectors to include tourism, manufacturing, and event management, reflecting a shared vision to strengthen their economic fabric.
