Household bank deposits in Morocco

have officially exceeded the symbolic threshold of

1,000 billion dirhams for the first time.

According to data from Bank Al-Maghrib,

household deposits reached nearly

1,003.8 billion dirhams by the end of March 2026,

marking an annual increase of 8.1%.

The growth was notably supported by Moroccan expatriates,

whose savings represented around

228 billion dirhams of total household deposits.

Overall bank deposits in Morocco climbed to 1,383.5 billion dirhams,

reflecting growing confidence in the banking system

and stronger household savings.

Experts see this milestone

as a sign of financial resilience

and improving liquidity within the Moroccan banking sector.
